Eu acredito que é importante resgatar e abraçar a história de pessoas como o Daniel Johnston ou o Bispo do Rosário. Esses homens tiveram que lidar com transtornos psiquiátricos a vida toda, se sentiam excluídos e machucados, mas foram capazes de construir vidas com alguma beleza. O processo de adoecimento é dolorido, e é importante falar que problemas mentais tem potencial de ser incapacitantes, cansativos, isoladores e desoladores. E aí é importante lembrar da história desses homens, em um contexto que a gente tem grupos de ódio nazifascistas ou de supremacistas masculinos capturando a dor e a solidão de garotos e transformando eles em soldados. Há muitas e muitas facetas nessa história, esse não é o único e nem o mais importante motor nesse processo. Porém, esse olhar de compaixão ajuda na compreensão. As vezes chega um ponto que pouca gente se importa com você, e se importa apenas um pouco. As vezes a pessoa adoecida magoa e afasta todos ao seu redor. O processo de socialização masculina não incentiva a busca de ajuda. Mas há homens pra nos lembrar, que no meio disso tudo, é possível construir uma vida baseada em amor.

The library was how I was able to read so many books as a kid that my parents wouldn’t have been able to afford.
