it literally took ONE CASE for mike to
- threaten harvey with his dad’s records
- threaten criminal charges
- call him a POS, dick, heartless, inhumane etc
this was just in a single episode
From what I've gathered after some character study is that Mike's morals make him blind to anything around him. His need to be that 'good' lawyer makes him hurt everyone around him and he isn't even aware. He takes the closest weapon around him and throws it without thinking it through. Even with Rachel, with the whole Stanford and Columbia thing, Mike wasn't able to see past his own stuff.
Whereas, Harvey's morals keep him grounded. He makes strategies instead of blindly reacting. We see it when the judge in s1 accuses him of sleeping with his married wife. Instead of outright denying it he develops a plan. Even in his rivalry with Scottie, no matter how much he hurt her, Harvey had always been very straightforward about his intentions while somehow also communicating that he cared for her. He is more level headed and collected and his promise to someone means more to him than the bigger picture (like the case with Alex when Harvey was managing partner) which could also hurt people.
So I would say that they are both in their own right. Mike is an asshole and I miss how he used to be in early seasons. But I also kind of understand where he was coming from.
Especially in this scene where Mike had made the offer to Harvey which he refused and everything thereafter led to the fiasco. Though, I hate Mike for saying Harvey is uncaring because dude, please you can't be serious.
OMG YESSSSSSSSS EXACTLY THANK YOU!! MIKE’S PRIORITY IS TO BE GOOD EVEN IF IT MEANS HURTING THOSE AROUND HIM!!! and because he doesn’t know he’s being an asshole it makes him as a viewer almost intolerable. he takes everything so personally that harvey being on the other side of this made him the enemy. meanwhile harvey wanted mike to succeed - maybe not win, but he wanted him to toughen up in order to stay in the game!!
