Sorry to hi-jack a post, but honestly? I’m kinda annoyed that this ended. And that people openly hated it.

Like yeah, cringe or whatever, but at least back then we used to enjoy things without making dissertation length posts on why This Thing Isn’t Problematic and pretending like we don’t have feelings. Fandom tumblr was openly enjoying the things it liked, and you know what? A lot of those creators were talented. Their show mash-up gifs were well made, they had cool theories, the fan-made trailers for a SuperWhoLock episode were very well done.

I loved SuperWhoLock shit when I was like, 10. It was my favorite shows all combined into one, and I was a lonely kid who wasn’t active in fandom spaces and had no one in the real world to share my interests with. But hey! Look at all these people! THEY like these things too, and they even make stuff to show how much they like it!

And yeah, I look back on it and cringe a lot little, but I wonder if I wasn’t conditioned into believing that it was worthy of ridicule. And if it was something that a bunch of twelve year olds enjoyed, then so what? Is that really so wrong? Kids enjoying things unabashedly? Or heck, even it wasn’t kids. Adults can like things too without it being cringey.

I just, I’m really not a fan of the attitude we developed towards things like SuperWhoLock. And maybe Supernatural and Sherlock deserve the flack they get for being overrated or poorly written (although I will die on the hill that is my love for Doctor Who) but you know what? Not everything that you enjoy has to be a critically acclaimed masterpiece for you to enjoy it.

Like “cringey” things. Do what you want. There’s nothing wrong with it. Don’t let Tumblr or bitchy adults who don’t know how to enjoy things try to convince you otherwise.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! I hate cringe culture so much. So what if you think something is strange? If someone is enjoying something let them enjoy it. Superwholock was snuffed out by toxic people laughing at and making fun of people just enjoying a fandom. They made the fans feel self conscious about what they loved and how they expressed it. There were so many creative people people expressing themselves through fanart, edits, theories, fanfics, etc and now that’s gone. The fandoms were like families an now that sense of community is gone. I mean look at all the people that miss it but are afraid to bring it back because we will be harassed by people too cool for fandoms. Fuck “too cool” cringe culture
