I've been on here quite awhile, so I figuired it's time to put up a bio. Been through a lot in my journey so far and I re-discover my life on a day to day basis. I'm continuously a work in progress. I started my new life at age 29 and have tried to never look back. As a Forty-Something fangirl I realize I have always been unique and the execption to the rule. I find myself really interested in info & entertainment technology & social networking, media & research. Love Darren & Chris, Starkids, MY kids, my honey, friends & family and NY! I am beyond FANATICAL about my glee!! I continue to be a positive person, which is hard sometimes through my cynical eyes. Inequality REALLY pisses me off. I hate labels of sex, gender, color, race, disability, religion, social status...you name it...constructs that serve to divide and enhance differences, when we're just the same after all. Shouldn't we follow the "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" rule? "Be the change you wish to see in the world". I think each individual is obligated to take personal responsibility for the world around them...Yeah, I'm a lot less hippie than I used to be...but I still believe that OUR ACTIONS positively or negatively affect MORE than just our little slice of life. Don't pass the blame! Be a LEADER-Attitudes are contagious!
God, I love them. Are we sure there isn’t an obscure law on the books somewhere that we could use to get a new Klaine scene every blue moon? The idea of never seeing them again hurts my heart.
A man came to the desk, meek and embarrassed that he had some old fines.
“The truth is, I was evicted from my house and the library books got stuck out on the street. But I’m trying to get my life together. Now I’m staying at a place that’s good. See, I got shot here” [pointing at the left side of his face] “and here” [holding up his hand] “but I’m ready to get back on track. I can’t pay my fines right now, but I will. But I need to use the computer. Try to find a job and such.”
He looked down as he said it.
I asked him his name.
Waived his fines.
“It’s time for a fresh start,” I said.
“Wow!” he said. “Thank you. It’s hard for me to ask for help. My pride…you know.”
And he asked how much I waived and I gave him a hint.
“I’m really glad I came to the library today,” he said, and his scar almost disappeared when he smiled.

A few years ago the blog Humans of New York posted a picture of Lin Manuel Miranda, his wife, and their baby the day after he was born.
Tonight I had the opportunity to hear a speech by Brandon Stanton, and was fortunate to be able to ask him about this photo.
After In The Heights was on Broadway, and in the six year Lin had disappeared to work on Hamilton, Lin messaged Stanton on twitter, telling him that if he was ever in Washington Heights. Stanton didn’t know who he was, but kept it in his mind.
A little while later, Stanton was in Washington Heights, and in need of a Spanish Translator. So he messaged Lin on Twitter, seeing if he was around.
That was the day that Lin and his wife had returned with their son from the hospital, and that is the story behind the photo.
Stanton didn’t know who Lin was at the time, but he does now.
