(There’s a few sounds, like Moth’s getting ready to leave)

(She blurts out, sounding entirely too panicked at the idea for her to be fine. After a second, she clears her throat.)

(She pauses, then takes a deep breath and decides, what the hell? Might as well get this over with.)

(His voice sounds far more genuine than it used to, even around Gloss or Yellow. They make sure Yellow and Wednesday and the others will be okay, then get to Gloss’s place as quick as is mostly safe. She stops a bit away, pausing before getting out of his car)

(She feels as sick as a droid can feel, sitting and waiting. She knows how far away Moth's house is, and she knows how long it'll take for Moth to get here, but it feels like a million years anyway. As soon as she hears Moth's car outside, she can't help but get scared of what he's gonna think. She can't even make herself go to the door. She's paralyzed.)

(After a moment, Moth knocks, calling in)

(Gloss puts her hands over her mouth, trying to remember just how Mothy looked. They hadn't seen eachother in long enough since her accident that it's a bit fuzzy. Her fans are whirring with effort as she tries to calm down, but she just can't. Eventually, she moves her hands to cover the empty, jagged gap where her eyes should be, and she calls out.)

(Her voice is just barely audible enough to hear through the door, her voice tight and strained. She almost wishes Moth will just leave. She almost can't bear the thought of not being able to see someone so dear to her. She just needs their presence, at least.)

(Moth opens the door slowly. He’s wearing one of her sparkly black dresses, to about mid calf. The boots go up high enough to keep the sun off, and she’s wearing a loose yellow sweater over the top and takes the sunglasses off as she goes inside. She stops, looking around and his eyes land on Gloss)

(They sound worried)

(She's still covering her eyes, flinching and curling up a little as she hears him call for her. She's sitting in one of the chairs she used for her work. Usually, with the chair being one of those hairstylist chairs, it would be really tall. She has it lowered all the way down for some reason. The other chairs and workstations are dusty, the materials on them not even seeming to have been moved for months. There's barely any light, as well. It's dark enough that only the light from the open door really illuminates the place.

She isn't looking at them. Not directly, anyway. Instead, her head is just a little bit off to the side of Moth. She takes a deep breath, her voice trembling as she manages to speak in a teary croak.)

Moth, I'm.. Please don't freak out.

(She painstakingly moves her hands from her eyes, revealing the gnarled, empty gap where her eyes and the bridge of her nose should be. All that's left is some messily soldered tubes, a mess of wires, and jagged edges of animalistically torn-out metal. She bites her lip, sniffling.)

oh… Gloss, love, what happened..? Can I come closer?

(Their voice has nothing but concern for his friend. A bit of sadness, why didn’t Gloss call her?)

(She nods, her mind racing with worries. She doesn't know how Moth is looking at her. If they're scared, disgusted. She can hear the concern, but maybe it's just pity. She just doesn't know. What she does know is that crying wouldn't be a good idea since the system that enables her to cry in the first place is basically torn in half, but that doesn't mean she can help it. She moves her hands to cover her mouth, looking down at the floor and trying to calm her breathing to no avail. Tears drip from a pair of small dented pipes just on the inner corners of where her eyes were, landing on the floor in front of her. She can't even answer the questions. She doesn't trust herself to speak.)

(Moon steps closer, humming quietly to avoid snaking up on their friend)

(She tries to, but when she takes a breath in, it just comes out in sobs. She appreciates the quiet humming. It gives her an idea of how close Moth is. No one else has done that yet. Then again she hasn't really seen anyone else.)

(She sounds absolutely heartbroken, like she's expecting a certain answer.)

(She carefully stands up, using the arms of the chair to help her find her balance. It takes a painful amount of time for her to stand semi-steadily. When she does, she looks up at the source of Moth's voice, her lips tugged into a teary frown.)

(She hums softly again as she moves closer, not wanting to make Gloss. I’ve when she’s clearly unsteady. He pulls her into a hug, tight and gentle)

(She doesn't hesitate to hug back, almost tucking her face into Moony's shoulder before opting to rest her chin on it instead, in fear of scratching them with the torn metal. She sighs deeply, managing to calm down at least partially. She didn't know she needed this, but she did.

After a good amount of time, she carefully pulls away, her hands settling on Mothy's shoulders. She sniffles, looking slightly down.)

.. I haven't... No one knows except you and.. Decay.

(She says Decay's name with just a tinge of... Something. Not anger, not resentment, but... Something. Not something good.

She's worried to say what actually happened. She wants to tell someone, but she doesn't want to put Decay in any danger. She seems like she's contemplating whether to speak up or not.)

(She gently bonks her forehead against Gloss’s. His hair’s grown out some and it’s in braids rather than the usual puffs. The braids are long enough to brush against Gloss and a few of them clatter softly with beads)

(The feeling of the braids makes Gloss want to touch them. It's not the usual style Moth wears. She's curious, but she knows now isn't the time.)

Uh, it's another.. Another droid. I took 'em in a while ago. They... BLI put a chip in its head, it was... Influencing them. They went kind of haywire and-and I tried to.. I tried to help, but.. It..

(She stops, pausing to take a breath and bite her tongue. She's speaking ever-so-tenatively, being careful not to even breathe a bad word about Decay. Eventually, she manages to finish her little story, albeit with difficulty.)

.. It wasn't their fault. They-they didn't mean to.. To do this.

(She doesn't want to sugarcoat it, but she knows, she knows Decay never meant to hurt her.)

(She uses the backs of the chairs and glides her hand along the wall until she gets to the closet, listening inside and carefully reaching in a hand. Her hand thunks against Decay's forehead before moving to sit on top of their head. She huffs a sigh, oddly calm about the droid in her closet.)

(She ruffles its hair a bit, then takes a little step back, setting her hand on her hip and tilting her head.)

(She glances over her shoulder in Moth's general direction.)

(She pauses momentarily, then pipes up again, having been wondering about something.)

(Even if she trusts Decay not to attack Gloss again, there’s just no way Moon will be as open to them as he is to Gloss. They will absolutely not mention their baby to anyone he isn’t sure is trustworthy. He takes a breath before continuing)

(Moth very clearly mistrusts Decay, but she’s still proud of Yellow)

(She's over the moon... No pun intended..... To hear Moth's voice again, and she grabs her radio to answer, eager to finally talk again. Though, just as she's about to speak, she pauses.

It takes her a few moments to think about what to say. She doesn't want to say no, but... What would Moth think if they saw her like this?)

-.. Hey, Mothy! I-I missed you, too. I'm.. Free whenever. The shop's been pretty quiet, lately. Uh, I...-

(She trails off, not really knowing how to even explain why she's so apprehensive.)

(Moth immediately picks up that something isn’t right)

- glossy? ‘Re you all rainbow dear? ‘S something wrong? -

-... Mothy, I..-

(She gets a little choked up, swallowing the tightness in her throat before continuing.)

-... Something happened. I'm-I'm okay, I'm not hurt or-or in danger, or anything, but.. I...-

(She cuts herself off, putting a hand over her mouth and trying to stop herself from crying. How can she even say it without having to explain what happened? Without having to relive it?)

(There’s a few sounds, like Moth’s getting ready to leave)

(She blurts out, sounding entirely too panicked at the idea for her to be fine. After a second, she clears her throat.)

-Uh, no, nn-no, it's fine. You don't have to..-

(She pauses, then takes a deep breath and decides, what the hell? Might as well get this over with.)

-... Sure. Just.. Come over. It'll be easier to explain in person.-

(His voice sounds far more genuine than it used to, even around Gloss or Yellow. They make sure Yellow and Wednesday and the others will be okay, then get to Gloss’s place as quick as is mostly safe. She stops a bit away, pausing before getting out of his car)

(She feels as sick as a droid can feel, sitting and waiting. She knows how far away Moth's house is, and she knows how long it'll take for Moth to get here, but it feels like a million years anyway. As soon as she hears Moth's car outside, she can't help but get scared of what he's gonna think. She can't even make herself go to the door. She's paralyzed.)

(After a moment, Moth knocks, calling in)

Doll? Love?

(Gloss puts her hands over her mouth, trying to remember just how Mothy looked. They hadn't seen eachother in long enough since her accident that it's a bit fuzzy. Her fans are whirring with effort as she tries to calm down, but she just can't. Eventually, she moves her hands to cover the empty, jagged gap where her eyes should be, and she calls out.)

Come in..

(Her voice is just barely audible enough to hear through the door, her voice tight and strained. She almost wishes Moth will just leave. She almost can't bear the thought of not being able to see someone so dear to her. She just needs their presence, at least.)

(Moth opens the door slowly. He’s wearing one of her sparkly black dresses, to about mid calf. The boots go up high enough to keep the sun off, and she’s wearing a loose yellow sweater over the top and takes the sunglasses off as she goes inside. She stops, looking around and his eyes land on Gloss)

Doll?

(They sound worried)

(She's still covering her eyes, flinching and curling up a little as she hears him call for her. She's sitting in one of the chairs she used for her work. Usually, with the chair being one of those hairstylist chairs, it would be really tall. She has it lowered all the way down for some reason. The other chairs and workstations are dusty, the materials on them not even seeming to have been moved for months. There's barely any light, as well. It's dark enough that only the light from the open door really illuminates the place.

She isn't looking at them. Not directly, anyway. Instead, her head is just a little bit off to the side of Moth. She takes a deep breath, her voice trembling as she manages to speak in a teary croak.)

Moth, I'm.. Please don't freak out.

(She painstakingly moves her hands from her eyes, revealing the gnarled, empty gap where her eyes and the bridge of her nose should be. All that's left is some messily soldered tubes, a mess of wires, and jagged edges of animalistically torn-out metal. She bites her lip, sniffling.)

oh… Gloss, love, what happened..? Can I come closer?

(Their voice has nothing but concern for his friend. A bit of sadness, why didn’t Gloss call her?)

(She nods, her mind racing with worries. She doesn't know how Moth is looking at her. If they're scared, disgusted. She can hear the concern, but maybe it's just pity. She just doesn't know. What she does know is that crying wouldn't be a good idea since the system that enables her to cry in the first place is basically torn in half, but that doesn't mean she can help it. She moves her hands to cover her mouth, looking down at the floor and trying to calm her breathing to no avail. Tears drip from a pair of small dented pipes just on the inner corners of where her eyes were, landing on the floor in front of her. She can't even answer the questions. She doesn't trust herself to speak.)

(Moon steps closer, humming quietly to avoid snaking up on their friend)

Take a deep breath, love, okay? Just take a breath, Dolly

(She tries to, but when she takes a breath in, it just comes out in sobs. She appreciates the quiet humming. It gives her an idea of how close Moth is. No one else has done that yet. Then again she hasn't really seen anyone else.)

I don't kn-know what t' do, Mothy, I-I.. I didn't wanna scare you..

Are you scared of me?

(She sounds absolutely heartbroken, like she's expecting a certain answer.)

(She seems unconvinced, but she knows Moony wouldn't lie to her.)

(She carefully stands up, using the arms of the chair to help her find her balance. It takes a painful amount of time for her to stand semi-steadily. When she does, she looks up at the source of Moth's voice, her lips tugged into a teary frown.)

.. Can I have a hug? Please.

(She hums softly again as she moves closer, not wanting to make Gloss. I’ve when she’s clearly unsteady. He pulls her into a hug, tight and gentle)

(She doesn't hesitate to hug back, almost tucking her face into Moony's shoulder before opting to rest her chin on it instead, in fear of scratching them with the torn metal. She sighs deeply, managing to calm down at least partially. She didn't know she needed this, but she did.

After a good amount of time, she carefully pulls away, her hands settling on Mothy's shoulders. She sniffles, looking slightly down.)

.. I haven't... No one knows except you and.. Decay.

(She says Decay's name with just a tinge of... Something. Not anger, not resentment, but... Something. Not something good.

She's worried to say what actually happened. She wants to tell someone, but she doesn't want to put Decay in any danger. She seems like she's contemplating whether to speak up or not.)

(She gently bonks her forehead against Gloss’s. His hair’s grown out some and it’s in braids rather than the usual puffs. The braids are long enough to brush against Gloss and a few of them clatter softly with beads)

Decay?

(The feeling of the braids makes Gloss want to touch them. It's not the usual style Moth wears. She's curious, but she knows now isn't the time.)

Uh, it's another.. Another droid. I took 'em in a while ago. They... BLI put a chip in its head, it was... Influencing them. They went kind of haywire and-and I tried to.. I tried to help, but.. It..

(She stops, pausing to take a breath and bite her tongue. She's speaking ever-so-tenatively, being careful not to even breathe a bad word about Decay. Eventually, she manages to finish her little story, albeit with difficulty.)

.. It wasn't their fault. They-they didn't mean to.. To do this.

(She doesn't want to sugarcoat it, but she knows, she knows Decay never meant to hurt her.)

(If that’s what Gloss believes, Moth will believe it too. But they will not risk this just being some lie to cover up what really hurts)

(Her voice becomes firmer, but she still sounds unsure.)

(She takes a breath, trying to gather her thoughts.)

... At least, I think I do. They're not-they're not just some rabid bag of bolts, it's just... its programming. I got rid of the chip myself and everything's been fine since then. I promise.

(She comments, trying to lighten the topic.)

(He says it as lightheartedly as she can manage. They’re happy to help Gloss with anything possible)

(She manages a little chuckle. It's the first time she's laughed in weeks. She can always trust Mothy to lighten things up a bit.)

Yeah, sorry about that. You know I usually keep it spick and span in here, but, uh.. Y'know.

(She takes a little step back, again grabbing the chair to steady herself.)

Uh, could y' grab me a blanket from that closet over... There?

(She gestures very loosely to a wall across the room with a door on it, presumably to a small closet.)

(He smiles gently, even though Gloss can’t see. Moth gives her another light squeeze before opening the closet door to find her friend a blanket and maybe a way to help tidy things up)

(It looks up in the pitch black room, pausing petting Circuit. The only thing visible is its pupils, glowing a bright white. It's fans whir loudly as it stares at Moth, trying to figure out if he's a threat or not)

(He yelps and jumps backwards, pale features a little bit eerie in the dimness. They aren’t armed, at least not visibly and he doesn’t reach for anything)

(Gloss flinches hard enough to almost knock the chair over, letting out a sharp yelp and "looking" around frantically.)

(She asks, panicked and speaking quickly.)

(Moth looks between the entity in the closet and her friend. He tries to sound calm and fails)

Uh- there’s … a flashlights? In here?

(Part of the panic is replaced by confusion.)

.. Flashlights? That's.. I don't keep flashlights in there...

(She uses the backs of the chairs and glides her hand along the wall until she gets to the closet, listening inside and carefully reaching in a hand. Her hand thunks against Decay's forehead before moving to sit on top of their head. She huffs a sigh, oddly calm about the droid in her closet.)

Oh. Hey, Decay.

(She ruffles its hair a bit, then takes a little step back, setting her hand on her hip and tilting her head.)

Do you have Circuit?

(She glances over her shoulder in Moth's general direction.)

This is Decay, the droid I was talking about. I didn't know it was in here.

(She chuckles a bit awkwardly.)

(She realizes she hasn't even introduced Circuit.)

Oh! Mothy, uh, we-we got a cat, recently. Some 'joy just gave her to me and took off. We named her Circuit.

(It sounds like that old mask is back, the one that sounds like they care about nothing so that nothing can hurt them. She leans closer to Gloss to whisper)

(She's still running, but she glances back over her shoulder only to hear theobvious sounds of whatever it is thrashing and yipping and trying to bite at Decay. She huffs, pausing in her tracks and taking a few paces back before taking out her blaster and pointing it at the amalgamation of angry dog noises.)

Okay, whenever you can, get off of that thing and get away from it, then tell me when you're a good distance away.

(They wait for a moment before tossing itself away from the creature, hitting the ground with a harsh thud)

I'm off.

(She doesn't hesitate before starting to shoot blindly at the thing, her hand following the snarling, rabid ball of creature. She keeps shooting it until it stops making noise.)

.. Is it dusted?

I think so. I don't think I would survive being shot at multiple times.

(They sit up, feeling a bit rattled in the head)

I think that fall hurt if I could feel it.

(She re-holsters her blaster with a moment of struggle, missing it the first time, and sighs. She starts walking toward Decay's voice as she speaks.)

Mm. Think anything came loose? I can take a lo-

(She cuts herself off, pausing in her stride. After a few uncomfortably silent moments, she clears her throat and continues.)

... Uh, I can.. Try to help.

(It shakes its head, a couple tiny screws rattling around)

I don't think it was anything important.

(She nods, feeling a little guilty that she couldn't help much even if it was serious. She manages to find Decay, holding out a hand for guidance.)

Let's... Go back inside. Don't wanna get chased by any more irradiated dustballs.

(She prods at the bandaid for a second or two before realizing what it is and chuckling a little.)
