So what if he was ignoring him? Jungkook still had his third beer in hand, and he could still talk about grad school to younger students who were coy enough to think it was cool to do lab work. He didn't need to catch his eyes from across the room. To watch him raise the bar spoon to his lips and suck the cocktail he had made off of it. He didn't need to notice how his back muscles flexed when he turned around to grab a tall glass, and– "Excuse me for a moment," Jungkook found himself muttering to the girl who was asking about data collection for social science studies. He smiled half-heartedly and left the small group they had formed, heading for the bathroom. He needed to splash some cold water on his face, or he was going to snap. or Taehyung is a senior researcher and Jungkook wants to wipe the condescension off his face.
Holy shit. Holy shit. I can't remember the last time I read smut in this high quality. I seriously don't even know where I should begin. The dialogue and banter are genuinely funny and interesting (maybe a bit hard to keep up with at times, but hey, researchers are a bit pretentious like that), and the whole psychology angle with the debate about obedience isn't there just for them to sound smart (lol), it becomes the entire framework for everything once they start fucking, and it's just delicious. The kink just feels like a continuation of the conflict and it works saurrr good. This is like, more than just good smut, it feels more like a really well-written rivals-to-lovers argument that just so happens to explode into fantastic fucking sex. The aftercare is also something that makes it all much more believable, it's treated as something substantial and not as an afterthought. The attention to detail in every line of dialogue and every action from the author is just so evident that you just get sucked in. This is one author I'll honestly be keeping an eye on for future works.
Anyways now that I'm done pretending to be objective... How do I even talk about this without revealing too much of my own fantasies? I feel like some sort of pervert lol. The whole degradation and how it's executed is just up my alley. The way Jeongguk is dominating but you still get these tiny glimpses of him worrying about Taehyung before essentially going 'fuck it, I'll deal with it later' is just so... And the petname 'doll' being used just once this entire fic is just criminal, like it makes it that much more effective but at the same time I need more. There's a second part to this series, and I'm gonna need you to read that too. There's a gun to your head.
