What's your process for making art? Do you have any speedpaints anywhere?
I wish I could say I have a fancy method but it’s very “we start doodling and see what comes out” sort of thing, and it varies a lot tbh
I do a sketch of the pose, a second sketch to add details (hair, clothes, extras) and fix whatever’s bugging me/negative spaces/tangents, etc
Once that’s done, it depends on where my attention feels like focusing
I sometimes do lineart, color, shading
Sometimes I start the lineart, get excited about what color and light i’m gonna use so i stop mid lineart, start coloring, realize I shouldn’t be doing that, finish the lineart and then color and shade
Sometimes I just throw color on top of the sketch and mess around in one layer, trusting the process until something comes out
If it’s a personal project, I’m solving on the go
If it’s a commission or something, I try to follow a structure so there can be any changes needed
I have some old speedpaints on my YouTube channel and some “recent” ones on my TikTok
On this one for example, the client asked for “cute cats in space with a horror vibe and a dog like alien”
So I sketched some ideas, client chose one
I go for the second sketch, giving the cats clothes, markings, designing the background and so
I briefly add lights cuz I thought “man, how is the light gonna work here?” Then stop
Add all of the atmospheric colors (reds, purples, etc)
Then little details (particles, shines on metal things, lettering, etc)
I hope this makes some sense :’)
