London Chimney Stacks & Gull August 14th, 2016 An inland sea gull alights atop one of the many chimney stacks framing the rooftops of London’s Fulham district, as the fading light of the setting sun colors the clear summer sky.
The Queen’s Birthday Flyover June 11th, 2016
For the Queen’s 90th birthday, the Royal Air Force performed an eight-part “flypast” over Buckingham Palace. Fortunately, the flight path took most of the planes right over our flat in the Fulham district of London. This image shows the planes from part-three of the flyover, featuring a C-130 Hercules and two King Air aircraft based out of RAF stations Brize Norton and Cranwell.

Lots Road Power Station June 5, 2016
Wandering from the Imperial Wharf train stop to the Lots Road Auction house, for a little Sunday exploring, we came across this view of the old Lots Road Power Station. When it was built in 1904, it burned through 500 tons of coal a day to power London’s underground tube system. It was later converted to oil, and then gas before being retired in 2002. It is currently being renovated into shops, restaurants and pricey living spaces, as part of a major development along the River Thames - a project called Chelsea Waterfront – expected to be completed in the next couple of years, by 2018.

St. Mary Abbots Church - Detail No. 1
One of the treats of being in London is the wealth of historical beauty that seems to live at every turn. Even a simple weekend errand walking to the hardware store, affords the chance to pause and appreciate the craftsmanship of eras gone by. On this day, the digression took in the complex beauty of St. Mary Abbots Church, in the Kensington district of London – a structure that was built in 1872.

Spring Hailstorm
A little hail collecting in the skylight above my desk this afternoon, as scattered storms make their way across London today. Fifteen minutes later and the sun is shining nicely! (at Fulham/ Chelsea)

Elizabeth Tower, City of Westminster London
This London icon, though commonly referred to as Big Ben, is really Elizabeth Tower, part of the Palace of Westminster. It is actually the great bell inside that is named Big Ben. Up until 2012 the spire was simply called the Clock Tower, while the famous clock itself remains the Great Clock of Westminster (Source: Wikipedia).
