My weather app, trying its best to be helpful:
The cooling:
[98°F = 37°C, 87°F = 30°C]
The craziest thing about having supportive parents is that you can still have the experience of moving far away from them and immediately being like "wow. I need to Get More Transgender about this"
many women are excited to get old and weird, but i have great news that it's fully possible to become weird now, before you get old. just imagine the heights of weirdness you will be able to reach in fifty years if you get started now. that's what I think
know the difference!
One of my Astronomy Pet Peeves is when people act like the sun/UV are more intense at altitude because we're closer to the sun. That 1-2 mile difference doesn't matter at all. It is less than a rounding error. You are, however, significantly closer to the top of the atmosphere. Which is the thing that protects us from radiation. I don't care if people are saying it to be funny. I hate fun.
It's so funny to me that planetariums simulate light pollution. Like, I understand the educational value. But it's so amusing that people go to the building where you can easily access a perfect night sky, and what does the operator do? They fuck it up on purpose. Just to teach you a lesson.
I mean the purpose of an educational building is to teach a lesson...
Well, two things:
- Yes, the light pollution has educational value. But not all planetariums handle light pollution the same way. Some do the darkest reasonable skies for the surrounding area, and some just full send it with a bortle 9 (city sky). When I (a planetarium operator) am simulating the former level of light pollution, it really feels like a grand reveal about what people are missing. But when it's the latter, it really feels like I'm just screening out the stars because I'm mean and evil.
- Planetariums are educational! But not all planetariums approach education the same way. It's basically a gradient from mainly educational to mainly performative. Informal education differs from formal education because its main purpose is often not just to educate but also to spark interest in and identity with the topic at hand. Different educators use different ratios of educational to dramatic and fun.

O'Brien must suffer but Julian Bashir must engage in a slow descent into despair beyond all reason.
When you're too annoying, they revoke your right to have your suffering recognized. I believe this happened to one of the medical officers on Deep Space 9
it's okay to block people for being mildly annoying unless of course it's me in that case you're just gonna have to suck it up sorry
I sure think about starting T a lot for someone who doesn't want to do that
Let me control the sun for a few days. I promise I can be trusted with a massive fusion reactor responsible for life on our planet as we know it and also the thing keeping all of our solar system's objects together as... you know... a solar system.
tough having ocd tendencies because sometimes you really, actually massively fuck up and it feels exactly the same as when you're just catastrophizing
