BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER S01E03: Kiss of the Catwoman
"all better now."
ref. ivan the terrible and his son ivan on 16 november 1581 (1883-1885) - ilya repin (below cut)
Had to immediately draw them after seeing their comments
the parallels between jimmy’s abuse of curly and anya don’t stop at curly being unable to move/protest. the entire crew believing he was the one who attempted the crash and him being unable to speak and defend himself reminds me of how starting out in jimmy’s pov we at first perceive Anya as incompetent at her job because she’s unable to speak out about her assault and pregnancy & we and the crew are left to make assumptions . I just think it’s very potent that we see curly lose his social power to mirror her. no one will believe you, and you can’t even try, etc etc.
I love Swansea so bad it’s not even funny. Curly calling him “Big Swan”, him and Anya. That one scene where he goes “oh I’m keeping it together alright” when Jimmy tries to berate Anya for crying. The fact he wanted Daisuke to make it out despite how much he complained and bellyached about Daisuke’s addition to the crew. The fact he tells Daisuke to ‘close his eyes’ before he puts him out of his misery. SWANSEA!!
Also the fact people just believe it when Jimmy says Anya barely qualifies to be a nurse when she’s hauling ass while being horrendously suicidal to keep a man who she thinks tried to kill them all alive 😭 bbg was not trained at all to deal with burn victims least of all to the extent Curly was hurt but she kept him alive for MONTHS while dealing with a pregnancy and under ungodly amounts of stress and contemplating suicide. On top of that, would Jimmy not mention specific events that showed her supposed incompetency if he was even remotely telling the truth (which he’s not he HATES Anya to the point we hardly see her when in Jimmy’s perspective. He’s the most unreliable narrator to ever narrate). Anya is a good nurse she’s also just fucking scared!!!
I love the way that Mouthwashing uses Jimmy and Curly taking turns as the perspective character to make their actions not just parallel to each other, but hopelessly, disgustingly inseperable. The clear picture it paints us of how Curly enables Jimmy and how Jimmy guilts Curly into further enabling him. They both avoid responsibility when it really counts-- Curly through shows of appeasement and Jimmy through shifting the blame to someone else.
Mouthwashing (2024)
do you have a long-lasting homoerotic tension deep enough to want to tear each other apart in every way while also understanding you're dependant on one another for your success / survival or are you normal
What i think it would be like if the Mane 6 visited the Cumbernauld shopping center
Literally such a funny concept
This is better than all Black mirrors combined.
Happy martin birthday
I’m really surprised how few people are talking about the autistic subtext in I saw the tv glow. I feel like so much of this movie is about what it’s like getting lost in a hyperfixation. It’s about feeling like you’re not meant to exist in the world you’re in because it wasn’t built for you. It’s about how sometimes fictional characters will do more for you than the people in your real life. It’s about having a meltdown in public and everyone ignoring you because they see you as crazy and beyond help and then having to apologize for it. It’s about feeling more real in a world that only exists in your head, no sees you for you, no one understands exactly what you are. So much of this movie is about disability and mental illness and how isolating those experiences can be. I’m screaming.
Funniest part of watching I Saw the TV Glow in theaters is how you Experience all of that and then when youre sitting in shocked speechless silence the cis people just immediately start getting up and going "haha omg that was crazy lol what just happened"
ride home from I saw the tv glow
i saw the tv glow is awesome bc its terrifying in a transgender "if i keep pushing this down and down and down i will be slowly letting myself die" way but also its even just scary as "a man in the moon traps you in a dimension out of time built to psychologically torture you with suburbia"
