industrial metal band recs?

i’m interpreting “industrial metal” as a lean toward the roots of industrial music, vs the electro-industrial i’m normally posting.

a thought-provoking question since, admittedly, a lot of “true” industrial music is a bit too heavy for me. so, i’ll try my best here, while straying from the EBM/techno side of the genre.

metal machine music (‘75) by lou reed was arguably the birth of industrial music. inarguably a landmark, as far as the genre’s concerned.

throbbing gristle i’d have to respect the most. p’orridge, christopherson, chris & cosey are all monumental artists during this era, along with their later acts to follow. therefore: psychic tv, coil, chris & cosey are further staples to your list.

cabaret voltaire (+ richard h. kirk) is also monumental. one of the most experimental, avantgarde groups i’ve ever listened to.

current 93, SPK, nurse with wound, ministry, skinny puppy, godflesh, prurient, KMFDM—also come to mind. i hope this was comprehensive yet palatable, along with beneficial for your sake.
