I think the most truly frightening thing in tma is the Not!Them.

Because it doesn't attack. It doesn't hurt or lurk or kill. It just smiles amusedly while everyone suspiciously asks you, the only one who sees the lie, if you're feeling alright.

There's absolutely no reason for it to not shape-shift into a perfect resemblance of the person it replaces, except that that person isn't it's victim at all, the real victim that it feeds off is the one who can actually see it.

And what's amazing is that it doesn't target or hunt, it just moves with an artifact to the next unlucky person, takes over their life completely, and just waits for the one who would see the lie to show up. It has no idea who it's going to be until it sees the fear and confusion in their eyes.

This is absolutely horrifying because it basically creates a cocktail of Stranger-Spiral-Watcher and just watches as it drives that person mad.

Having ADHD is so fun because sometimes youre looking for something that you use regularly and definitely put away in a smart and reasonable place and you have absolutely 0 hope of remembering where and finding it. And then other times ur like "hmm I need a some kind of small pointed object. I feel like i remember seeing a paperclip under the left couch cushion a month ago, i wonder if its still there" and it is

"wait but if u saw the paperclip why would u just leave it there?" its the adhd. Also if i had put it away then i wouldnt have been able to find it a month later when i needed it. So. Checkmate neurotypicals.

Problem is when the ADHD catalogue is out of date, when you go to check under the couch cushion for that paperclip and it ISNT there, sometimes your brain will just give you a montage of false memories of everywhere you've ever seen a paper clip, like this

Does anyone else remember when Elon was like "if anyone knows how to end world hunger for 6 billion USD, I'll fund it" and UNICEF was like "we're going to spend a month to make a plan to end world hunger for 6 billion USD and Elon is going to fund it" and Elon was like "actually, nah" and then bought Twitter instead?

I think that was one of the worst things I'll ever see in my life.
