GO CHRIST DEVOTIONAL 8th June 2020 Nugget: Seek for knowledge A discerning mind seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on stupidity. Proverbs 15:14 ISV Life is full of seasons which means that things won't be the same all the time. This is why many professionals continue to further their education to make themselves valuable on the market but the reverse means that one will be static without promotion until you eventually lose your job. Following a couple of Christian ministers, I have realized that ministers with rich knowledge have great following. This is because they always have something informative for their followers. They don't keep feeding their flocks with reheated food when something new and nutritious could be prepared. But all of this is a result of their ability to discern the need to acquire knowledge or upgrade ones self in order to influence society. Like the scripture rightly put it, the discerning mind seeks knowledge but unfortunately the mouth of fools feeds on stupidity. As Christians living in an era where information by which we can acquire knowledge is readily available, we would have ourselves to blame should we spend our time feeding on things that would not build us up spiritually and also in a respective professions. Currently there are free online courses we can enroll in and I will encourage you to take advantage of it to make yourself better for tomorrow. This world, as it is now, will finish. 1 Corinthians 7:31 EasyEnglish Sometimes you may buy a product from a shop and on its label, you may find established since 1818. These is just an example to help us understand what God wants to tell us this morning. These old brands of product were established by people who are no more. After all their toiling, some of them did not really live long to enjoy this temporal fruits of their investment after spending all their time and strength on this and similarly, some us are so busy with everything in everything in life apart from the things of God. We are alright spending eight hours at work yet we complain about a two hour church service but beloved, let us not forget the fact that everything in this world carries an expiry date as such our scripture says that this world will finish or come to an end. But what shall be our benefit at the end of our life on earth if we lived as if everything was about work, money, cars, houses  and anything one can think about in this world. Until we live as if these things are not important and as such make God the most important person in our lives, our souls are in danger. GO CHRIST DEVOTIONAL 6th June 2020 Nugget: Let's pursue peace Therefore, let’s keep on pursuing those things that bring peace and that lead to building up one another. Romans 14:19 ISV In our everyday dealing with others, many issues may arise that can bring division among us which is due to differences we may have in opinions or as a result of our varying interest in a given situation. It is now not uncommon to find siblings fight over an inheritance until a whole family is destroyed. This is the work of the enemy who does not stand for anything good. He's only satisfied with destruction, division and anything that will take away the happiness of God's people and if we submit ourselves to him, he will use us as instruments to accomplish this evil agenda of his. In almost every decision we would have to make in life, Satan has an interest in it and to be able to pursue peace in all things, we would have to resist him. Pursuing peace in everything is another way of telling people that we have really experienced Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Its a way of teaching the lost the way of salvation and also getting all hands on deck to achieve a goal. To pursue peace with all men means that we need a heart which is full with love and by the work of the Holy Spirit in us, we can do this. The Holy Spirit will help us to forgive easily and sometimes compromise in some situations in other to achieve peace. Matthew 6:13 KJV If many had known the outcome of certain decisions they had to make which ended badly, I am pretty sure they would have done otherwise. A manger harmlessly signed a document thinking it was in the interest of the employer but he was unfortunately fired because things didn't go well and his decision caused him to be considered as incompetent but would he not have been celebrated if things ended up differently? There are many marriages that has ended up in divorce because of just a decision which didn't go well. It could be a decision not to forgive a spouse or anything you could think of. Sometimes we end up in such situations because we are unable to discern when God is prompting us to act otherwise or because we seek to satisfy a selfish interest which leads to regrets. Sadly there are some mistakes we can't undo and such mistakes can be very costly. As such there is one prayer on my mind and the Lord taught us to pray about it. He taught us to pray to the Father to deliver us from evil and if we do this and follow him in obedience, decisions that leads to evil would never be made by us. As a Father, it's his responsibility to protect us and as children its ours to walk with him in obedience. Thankfully we can trust God to be faithful to do his side and as humans we need to ask for grace to obey when he prompts us. There reason why there are many shallow people who claim to be Christians is because all these people follow Christ to fulfill the lust of the flesh, eye and the pride of life. It's very likely these people came to Christ because they have a different perception of the gospel. They might have assumed that when one comes to Jesus, things will be well all the time but this is not really the case. Beloved if we follow Jesus Christ because we think he is always going to satisfy our physical needs, then we will surely be disappointed at the end of the day and in the long run end up falling away. So the question is, why are you following Jesus Christ? Galatians 3:28 NIV The latter part of last week and and the early part of this week has been full of different occurrences which includes a lot of protest for a black gentleman who was sadly killed by policeman in the USA. Many properties have been destroyed and many wounded as people call for a change that would make the world a better place for all of us regardless of a persons' race. In Africa we do not have much of racial issues however we have something similar which is called ethnocentrism. We have many ethnic groups in Africa and this means that there a more divisions among us instead of putting our differences aside to develop our side of the world. The situation gets quiet sickening when people play this tribal cards in the Church. This is because as Christians we should know better and act accordingly. We are the custodians of God's word and as such we should be able to lead people in the path of love. We should not discourage people from having a godly relationship with anyone outside our tribe because we are all one in Christ and even outside Christ, we are all descendants of Adam and Eve. Please allow me to say that having a prayerful Christian life is not for anyone who loves to be lazy or procrastinate. This is because it means a lot of work and sacrifice for which many are not ready to make. Scripture says we are to pray without ceasing and the only way we can achieve this is by shaking off laziness which is holding many captive allowing the enemy to destroy great destinies. Beloved until we have learnt to go down on our knees before the Lord even when we don't fill like, there's no way we would consistently live a victorious. Prayer is a powerful tool in the hands of the believer as long as we use it all the time. Name any strong Christian and I'll show you a man of prayer. GO CHRIST DEVOTIONAL 1st June 2020 Nugget: Cover nakedness of others Ham, who fathered Canaan, saw his father’s genitals and told his two brothers outside. Genesis 9:22 ISV Each and everyone of us has something about us that we do not want to make  known to the whole world because we may end up being judged wrongly or maybe because our hard earned reputation may be soiled. This may be something about our past or a challenge we may be going through.  Its a fact that there are a lot of men of God who are dying inwardly because of bad addictions but the question who can they trust enough to share these things with for assistance? Most Christians in our generation including men and women of God have okro-like mouths. The moment they see your nakedness, you can be sure your shame has arrived. But is this how we are to live as Christians? Are we not to cover up the nakedness of each other and deal with such situations with love? Ham saw his father's nakedness and he went to town with the news and this caused his father to pronounce a curse upon him. This was unfortunate and could have been avoided if wisdom had been applied. Then Shem and Japheth took their father’s cloak, laid it across both their shoulders, and walking backwards, they both covered their father’s genitals. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s genitals. Genesis 9:23 ISV No Christian should ever be like Ham in the way he handled his father's nakedness. We should rather be like his other siblings who covered up their father's nakedness with their faces turned away. Until we learn to deal with the nakedness of others like this, many will die spiritually. The year started with many form of accidents then suddenly Covid 19 came into the scene unannounced to many. This means that it was revealed by God to some of his servants. I however believe that most who had foreknowledge of this pandemic did not anticipate how it has affected the whole world. Reading and listening to news across many platform, I can say many are suffering because of this pandemic but in the midst of all this, 2020 is going to be one of the best years someone is going to have and that person is going to be you if only you will believe. For  God commands me to tell you that it shall be well with you. Things will change no matter how hopeless it may seem. The same God who brings down also lifts up. And he is going to turn things around in your life. Maybe you may have lost your job but your faithfulness in tithing will bring you a better job. GO CHRIST DEVOTIONAL 30th May 2020 Nugget: The righteous will rise again For though a righteous man falls seven times,   he will rise again, but the wicked stumble into calamity. Proverbs 24:16 ISV The difference between the righteous and the wicked is the state of their heart. The wicked does not have a relationship with God and as such he does not have the fear of God influencing anything he does. He exploits the poor for their wealth, he denies them justice just to name a few. In all of this, God watches from above. He gives the wicked time to repent and if he does not, like chaff he is blown away. His name becomes a curse word and even sometimes he's name is forgotten among his people. The wicked is not restored when he falls into calamity because the vulnerable will suffer in his hands. But the righteous is always lifted when he falls. This is because many people depend on him  for their daily bread. He fights for the poor to get what is theirs which the wicked would have loved to take. The righteous will rise again when he gets into trouble and a perfect example is Joseph being wrongly accused by Portiphar's wife which caused him to be imprisoned. But finally God used the situation to change his life. Dear beloved in the Lord, may be you have fallen into the trap of the wicked but tell him not to rejoice because God will lift you up and glorify you. Ruth 1:16 ISV As Christians, grace is all we need in this life because without it there are many heights we cannot reach. The book of Ruth is a story of grace and as much as we would want understand it, I do not think we would because God's ways are not our ways. If Ruth's husband and Naomi's children for that matter had not died, would there be a need for Naomi to return back to her people? I don't think so! But out of something unfortunate as we may call it, God's purpose was made manifest when Ruth ended up marrying Boaz and out of this family Christ was born. But why didn't Ruth return to her own people like Orpah? It was nothing else than they grace of God and not her own insistence. The grace of God had to make sure that she walked in the will of God instead of following her own desires. Beloved God's grace at work in our lives can make all things possible through faith. I therefore believe that as Christians one thing we need to ask God for every morning is his rich grace. By it we will go places; we enter doors that would have taken us forever to do using our own abilities. I pray God's grace will keep us all in his perfect will for our lives.
