I'm going to start writing unfinished post so AI
i've been rereading your werewolf opinions tbh because i also feel a lot like most werewolf media doesn't really have what i'm looking for in werewolves, holt being a rare exception of me cheering dancing throwing confetti with every update like yes!! you get it!! it's awkward to go "yeah i like werewolves" and then being unable to name a single title that i really Love. :,) do you maybe have a rec list? for the rest of us in this boat hehe.
So I have two lists;
this is my list for every werewolf movie I've seen and catalogued in letterboxd. This list is pretty loose on what it even constitutes as a "werewolf movie" because some of them just have a werewolf character or appearance, while some evoke the themes of a werewolf story without having one in there. I think most of these were stinkers, but I recommend you take a look at it yourself. It's better to draw your own conclusions than just take my word for it, and you might get something out of it that I didn't.
this is my list of werewolf movies I would say I had fun with. This can range from me finding their use of lycanthropy to tell a story interesting, me just overall finding the movie enjoyable even if I don't think of it as a "werewolf movie", or I found it funny as fuck. Quality definitely isn't a marker I judge when putting things on this list.
For things that aren't movies, I recommend the 1987 tv show Werewolf. It's a lot like the 70s hulk show but instead of a hulk he turns into a werewolf. It's pretty episodic with a couple of plot lines, so if you enjoy episodic content as much as me then you might enjoy it. I also really liked the first couple of seasons of the UK Version of Being Human, it feels pretty personal and the werewolf character is very fun to me. I would only recommend the US version if you want to watch a much worse cobbled together version of the UK version and get a laugh out of that. If you want real schlock, I recommend starting from episode 627 of the 1960s Dark Shadows because the werewolf character they introduced is the funniest fucking guy I have ever seen.
Heh... Yeah, I guess you can call me a bit of a Lycanthropic Connoisseur.

"Oh, boy! I just got two asks! Whatever could they be!" The humble inbox:
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
I couldn't remember the word "doorknob" ten minutes ago.
