He can breathe easy now, with some space, a little less tense and more deftness as he turns to face the other. “Is that so?” It’s a quiet murmur, he’s not really trying to address Ranpo, just thinking aloud as he tries to read between his words; he expected that there wouldn’t be any familiar faces around. Boredom, however— Edgar’s not sure if he should completely believe that he hasn’t found something that meets his expectations, but it’s not his place to question that. “Mm, I was placed in Cappuccino… There’s an agency around here?” Rather, the wording of it— my agency— is what grabs his attention; and for a brief moment, he ponders if it’s a way to cope with homesickness.
“oh, really? that’s great! we live close to each other, how about that! i live in the cappucino living area too.” which meant it wouldn’t be hard to figure out where his dearest rival lived and visit -- hassle -- him whenever he felt the urge. now, why poe of all people would come to a place like this... well, it was certainly interesting in itself. was he here to get away from the stress of the mainland, or was he really into that whole ‘soulmate’ thing?
well, ranpo can ask about that later.
“yep, that’s right! it’s my agency!” ranpo puffs his chest proudly, patting it with a fist. “just being here without doing my normal work... it didn’t feel right, y’know? it’s all i’ve known. just ‘cause this place is some project doesn’t mean it’s exempt from murders and crimes. if anything, it has a higher probability due to the drastic differences in people here.”
