Visiting Tokyo, Japan, for the second time. My quick observation and some facts therein.
Tokyo is the capital city of Japan.
Japan is 6 hours ahead of East Africa Time. We are getting to bed now.
Population: The metropolitan area has an estimated 14 million people, and the Greater Tokyo area has a population of 37 million or more. It is one of the most populous urban areas in the world.
You immediately notice a blend of fast-paced modernity and deeply rooted tradition and culture. The city has a very efficient public transport system that includes taxis, trains, and subways. Notably, it has high living standards with access to world-class health care, education, and services.
Based on my own experience over the last two days, people are very polite and notably quiet. So, for those of us who love to laugh loudly, please be considerate. The city is very orderly and clean. Everyone obeys traffic lights. There are several serene parks and quiet neighbourhoods, and clearly, people respect personal space. Don’t be eager to shake hands. Nonverbal gestures do the magic, of course, and there is a loud language barrier.
It looks like all the big brands in the world are in Tokyo: Ginza for luxury brands, Akihabara for electronics and animation, and Shibuya for trendy fashion. Well, I will buy myself one pair of shoes from Ginza as a memory of my time in Tokyo.
From sushi and ramen to international cuisine, Tokyo boasts more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other city.
I am looking forward to visiting the temples and shrines, as well as the museums and art galleries—Tokyo National Museum and Mori Art Museum.
And finally, eish the towering skyscrapers or tranquil gardens. I hope to make a few Japanese friends during my stay in Tokyo 😄
