Never understood the "antis being into dead dove/dark media and complaining that there are proshippers in it" thing until now

I said it to another blog months ago but. Why are there SO MANY ANTIS in the w*rriors fandom bro 😭🙏 (censoring slightly in case they get me) ... so many puritans complaining about people shipping siblings or cats with a huge age gap when THE BOOKS THEMSELVES have that.

The books have racism and xenophobia between Clans and cats in general, abusive relationships, ableism, a WHOLE novella around grooming, implicit and explicit misogyny, murder (including child murder), depictions of birth, incest, the list can go on... Hell isn't there a cat who the writing team decided to make his parents be siblings?

I know things like incest and age gaps are because the writing team forgot to give the main cats parents until later but, it doesn't excuse later sagas. One of the main protagonists from the recent arc has her parents be cousins (possibly distant but still related). Yet the fans think someone shipping two cats together is horrible. Lol.

Mfs read the "abusive incestous cat murderers with significant age gaps" book saga and then complain that some fans draw and ship abusive incestous cat murderers with significant age gaps together 🫩

I think a lot of people fail to understand that if you aren't antiship, you are proship by default and vice versa. I've seen many people say they aren't on a side or they they're too employed for this, which is fair, you don't need to label it. However, if you believe people should be allowed to consume fiction in the way they want to, you're proship. If you believe fiction should be in any way restricted, you are antiship.

You don't need to be comfortable with everything to be proship and you don't need to actively harass people to be antiship. You will always be on one side because even if you believe in only censoring some fiction, you are antiship/antific. If you don't get involved in discourse and believe people should do whatever they want, you are proship/profic.

It's not something you can be truly neutral on, like a lot of things in our current world, because there is no middle ground when it comes to censorship of fiction, you either want it in any capacity or you don't want it at all.

Yes, you absolutely can write a taboo topic. In fact, a lot of therapists suggest using fiction to cope with trauma and many encourage writing/reading dark things if it makes you feel better because its fictional

It makes me sad that so many trauma survivors who've already lost their personal autonomy are being told they're not allowed to have it again in a completely safe way

Prioritizing the "safety" of fictional characters and intolerance of discomfort over the feelings and coping skills of people with trauma will never not disappoint me, and remind me that not everyone truly cares about trauma victims when the conversation gets uncomfortable

Sorry if my blogs are a little aggressive at the moment, I'm so frustrated with feeling excluded from so many sites by people who don't understand what they're even fighting for. I'm tired of seeing other people be hurt and seeing actual, real life children be harmed because they did something they didn't know was 'problematic.'

If antis cared, they'd help people, they'd save the poor innocent children; not expose them to real life predators because they've deemed them morally impure. Because in their minds corrective r//pe is apparently less insane than a literal child shipping two characters together. I don't think anyone deserves that anyway, adults or kids, but clearly if they cared about the children, they'd care about children who are actually alive.

Hey, just a reminder.

Trauma isn't sunshine and rainbows in real life, not everyone understands they're traumatised and not everyone reacts the same to trauma—even when the events were the same. Because everyone is different.

We talk about fiction a lot and how that can help people, but I don't think people understand that a lot of dark fiction is a real depiction of real issues or an exaggeration of actual feelings and fears—not all of it, but more than you'd probably think. Fiction can help bring awareness to how disgusting, how frightening, how visceral trauma is, how the lasting effects can distort and change people in horrific ways to make them a mere shell of themselves.

Trauma is not glamorous and it's not just Tiktok Depression Premium™, it is a horrifying thing that can cause horrifying effects to the people who've experienced it.

Here's the thing that people have been trying to say and people get pissed off about it: fandom is not activism. Fandom is just for fun.

Listen: FANDOM DOES NOT DICTATE WHETHER SOMEONE IS BIGOTED OR NOT.

If you're offended by someone "misrepresenting" a fictional character it is your job to block or just to scroll or move on. People seem to forget that they curate their own damn online experience.

For example: let's say someone is shipping an aroace character and you don't like that because you believe its "erasure". Your job is not to attack someone over what they're enjoying in fiction. (Also let's not forget by your own logic you're implying aroace people can't have any relationship ever but that's a can of worms for a different time.)

Or if someone ships a dynamic you aren't comfortable with because it's "morally wrong"? Block and move on

If anything ever in fandom makes you uncomfortable then just block that thing and move the fuck on with your life.

And if fandom bothers you this much then you remove yourself from said fandom.

i log onto pinterest. i get called fifteen different slurs by teens & preteens who're advocating for censorship because they can't handle seeing icky things on the internet. i see 🎀 𝒿𝒶𝒹𝑒 🎀 screaming at people for thirsting over a "minor" (fictional character). people are being told to "keys without the e" because they posted stolen fanart of a queer ship they like. someone comments a hazbin hotel meme that tells people they'll be going to hell for being "unholy pedos". i log off pinterest.

I think I've found more peace by just ignoring dnis, if you want to enforce them go ahead but it's not my problem to find out what kind of people you don't like so I can block you.

If it's a minor asking adults not to talk to them, I respect that because that's for their safety and comfort. However, it's not my issue when it comes to people having anti-profic all over their profiles whilst still interacting with me. Because apparently their dni is irrelevant when it's for their convenience anyway, or at least to offload their social curation onto others instead of bothering to enforce their own boundaries.

this is a dumbass comment for two (2) reasons, which i will now tell you.

1: no one is arguing that fiction doesn't affect reality. no one. in fact, the only people i've seen argue that "fiction doesn't affect reality" are proship bait blogs (blogs made by antis to "bait" proship people), so maybe you want to redirect this energy towards your fellow antis.

fiction does affect reality, but not to the extent that most antis argue. fiction can make you happy, sad, angry, etc. if you're not careful with what you're consuming, it can potentially trigger you, but it can also help you heal from trauma(s). what fiction cannot do is make you abuse or assault someone on a whim. if you have a good grasp on fiction and reality, if you know the difference between the two (which most people do), you don't have to worry about fiction turning you into an abuser. if fiction somehow makes you do things you'd never consider doing, then clearly your moral backbone is comprised entirely of wet spaghetti, which is a problem with you, not the fiction you're consuming.

2: if you're aware that certain things in fiction may have a negative impact on you (such as causing psychosis, as the comment claims), then it is your responsibility to safely manage what you consume in fiction to avoid being negatively affected. no one else's. you being stupid enough to consume fictional content that you know negatively affects you (multiple times, apparently!) does not suddenly make fiction bad and dangerous, it just makes you irresponsible.

"fiction caused x negative affect on me" will never mean "fiction is inherently harmful".

all it means is that you need to curate your damn internet experience and stop reading shit that you know you don't like! which is what the proship community has been saying!! fucking listen!!!

I don't really understand what happened between now and the earlier internet. I remember growing up being sent zoophilic art and writing warrior cats nsfw fics with my friends when I was maybe 12-13. Now, you can't go onto a site and state you're against censorship or harassment (even if you don't have any darkships and/or are grossed out by dark fiction!!!) without being excluded and threatened.

As soon as I became an adult, the internet suddenly became so unsafe. It feels weird to say I was treated kinder and felt safer when I was being lowkey 'groomed' as a minor (quotations because I'd only felt unsafe with one person—everyone else just treated me like a normal person beyond the whole sending porn to a minor part which was obviously weird)

I can't believe that being exposed to porn as a minor by adults wasn't as harmful to me as antis are being to minors by leaking their addresses. I have no idea if any of the adults around me had bad intentions because nothing ever happened but god I'd take that any day over having my real life info exposed for an actual predator to use.
