‎Imām Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎“If someone wrongs you and then comes to apologize for their wrongdoing, humility obliges you to accept their apology, whether it is genuine or not, and leave their inner intentions to Allāh, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did with the hypocrites who stayed behind during the battle.

‎When they came to him with excuses, he accepted them and entrusted their inner secrets to Allāh.

‎A sign of generosity and humility is that when you see flaws in their excuse, you do not confront them about it or argue with them.

‎Instead, say : “It is possible that things are as you say, and if something were decreed, it would have happened, and what is destined cannot be avoided” or something similar.

братья Юсуфа, когда у них была выгода от отца, говорили: «наш брат»

а когда выгода закончилась, сказали: «твой сын». в этом мире у многих меняется речь, когда меняются интересы. когда заболевает тот, кого мы любим, мы говорим «испытание», а когда заболевает тот, кого мы не любим, говорим «наказание». когда того, кого мы любим, постигает беда, говорим «потому что он хороший», а когда беда постигает того, кого мы не любим, говорим «потому что он притеснял людей». остерегайся же распределять предопределение Аллаха согласно своему желанию.

Все мы несем в себе недостатки, и если бы Аллах снял с нас покров (скрывающий наши грехи), мы бы опустили головы от сильного стыда.
