Remus used to be the one who devours books because he missed out too much while practically being locked up at home for being a werewolf. However, he doesn't read as much as he did in Hogwarts now. His eagerness towards knowledge had burnt out when the Potters died. In lie-low-at-Lupin's era, Sirius devours books instead, since he missed out too much while being imprisoned. After moving into Grimmaulds place, he stops reading that he finds out most of the books in his old home are about dark magic. Merely reading about it reminds him of Azkaban. He used to deal with depression and anxiety by reading, but he is unable to do that now. So he literally suffers from misery and Remus can do nothing to help him.
