Fan Region Development Questions

For regions that aren’t in official Pokemon games!

Who is the champion of the region?

What role do gym leaders play in society?

Is there an Elite Four? If so, what are they like?

Who is the professor? What do they study?

Is there an evil team? If so, what are their goals?

Is there a main antagonist? What are they like?

Is there a box dev? If so, what are they like?

Are there “protagonist” and “rival” characters?

Are there any non-league celebrities?

What is the environment of the region like?

What kinds of Pokemon are most common there?

How industrialized is the region? Does this cause tension?

Is there anything special about the Pokedex? (ie Rotomdex)

What are the routes like? Are there any roadblocks?

What is the largest city? What is it like?

How do people get around? (ie trains, taxis, ride pokemon)

What do people from other regions think of this region?

What do people from this region think of themselves?

Are there non-battling competitions? (ie contests, pokeathlons)

Is there a specialty food of the region?

What is the history of the region?

How does it interact with other regions?

Are there any myths or legends that citizens still remember?

Does the region have mythical or legendary Pokemon?

Does the region have a theme?

People talking about their fanregions gets me wondering how to reformat my own.

I mean, wouldn’t you wanna retire from battling professionally after such a long run?” Cam tilted her head, perhaps projecting a bit. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s actually really cool that you can still enjoy this stuff after ten years, it’s just... surprising, I guess.”

“You know, I never liked being champion.” Cam said with a sigh. “Well, you beat me fair and square, and I went all out on you. I think that makes you the new champion, by tradition.”

“Heck yeah, it does!”

“Hey now, don’t you want to know what being champion entails? Other than battling?”

“Nah, I think I got this.” She shook her head. “Sure, there might be some curveballs, but would I have gotten here if I didn’t know how to roll with them?”

“I guess you’re right.” Cam smiled a bit. “Well, I wish you luck, whatever the case may be!”

The title of Champion has been handed down to Jenna!

There’s gonna be a few changes to this blog soon.

I’m retiring Cam as a muse, admittedly she started off as a derailed self-insert and I already had one of those somewhere else. The new champion is going to be Jenna. I’m gonna write a drabble about Cam stepping down and handing the championship down to her, but it’s going to be very, very simple.

Truth be told, I still like the idea of a tourist trap region, but I just don’t know how to go about doing the worldbuilding for it.
