As I mentioned in the tags of this post: pictures of our old steam engine and Caboose that are now decorative!

The caboose was given a fresh coat of paint and seemingly a good deep clean this last year(she was looking a bit rough from 2013 to 2023 with chipping paint and spiderwebs)

I use to play in that red caboose as a kid whenever mom would let my sibling and I, always having to be mindful of the copious amounts of spiderwebs it always seemed to have.

The old “freight car”, people use to be able to ride on when it was a functioning train, is open near the locomotive for function and they’ve very logically blocked off the actual locomotive controls years(if not decades) ago.

There are so many good memories associated with this little train by the information centre.

But yeah, it’s service as a functioning train was stopped before I was born because the caboose was considered too dangerous. But my mom grew up in town and said that it use to circle the waterfront and whistle, the caboose operator sometimes giving information as a tour guide.

Bonus of the old hangar I also mentioned in the other post!

Its right by the civic centre and walking paths near the river (which coincidentally is a river some nautical battles took place in in the 1700’s)
