NO DISCOURSE. GET THE BRICKS.
Find your members of Congress by typing in your address on Congress.gov.
Spend 5 minutes. Make 5 calls. Make your voice heard.
^^^^These are the bricks.
If your reps are republicans, make up a conservative persona. Use conservative keywords like "my church" and "I'm a Christian and I don't think x is very Christian because..." Remember, conservatives think differently and are more concerned with the morality of society and their "family and neighbours" than the freedom of society and "human rights", so use that angle. You are saying the same things, but you need to say them in a different jargon to make yourself understood by a republican. For ANY party, threaten to not vote for them. Nicely! Politely! But saying you will not vote for them is what they listen to, because that's how they keep their job! THEY work for YOU! You are their boss!
For KOSA, for example, I might say to a republican rep, "Hi there, I'm [name] and I live in [city] and I am very concerned about this KOSA bill. I think it should be up to a child's mother and father to decide how to protect their child, and not the government. That's what I was raised to believe as a Christian, and I feel very strongly about it, and will vote for someone who fights against the law trying to tell me and my neighbours how to raise our own children."
I might say to a democrat rep, "Hi there, I'm [name] and I live in [city] and I am very concerned about this KOSA bill. LGBT, sexual abuse survivor, and sexual education groups have spoken out against this bill, pointing out that it can easily be used to silence people talking about their lived experiences with the way it is currently written, and will also silence sexual education sites like Scarleteen, which has been educating people about their bodies in a safe anonymous way for many years. It attacks our First Amendment rights directly, and that is un-American. I will vote for someone who continues to fight this attack on our first amendment rights."
If it is not safe for you to go to a march (like me, I can't run or walk) then calling and bothering your reps is the best thing you can do. Most people don't bother, so one person doing it matters a lot!

Steve is unknowingly popular in teacher spaces online despite not having social media because his students keep posting videos of him on Tiktok.
Every now and again, a video will break containment and reach a wider audience - like the time one of his students used āgirl mathā to justify their wrong answer and Steve responded with an exhausted āmath is non-binaryā - but itās always a flash-in-the-pan kinda thing. The lasting power isnāt there.
Or well, it wasnāt before famed rockstar Eddie Munson started randomly quoting some of the dorky shit āTeacher Steveā says in those videos.
Someone puts together a compilation of Eddie quoting videos that have less than one hundred views. Now Eddie has to admit that heās kinda obsessed with the guy and suddenly Steve is famous everywhere online (still doesnāt know about it though).
Things may have died down but then one of his students post a video of them asking Steve if he knows Eddie, and Steve is just like, āMunson? Eddie Munson from high school?ā
Theyāre married btw.
@morganbritton132 (OP) tag preservation: #itās funny if theyāre married and thatās how Steve refers to Eddie#itās also funny if theyāre not and Eddie is still obsessed with his high school crush#and Steve doesnāt know Eddie got famous#he genuinely thinks for a second that all of his students know about a random guy he went to high school with#bc this version of Steve would be so chronically offline that he didnāt get an internet connection in his house until streaming platforms#became a thing#and even then he still prefers to use the computer at the library#Eddie sees a video of Steve explaining that to his sixth period and falls in love even more#meanwhile the CC boys are filming TikToks of Eddie watching this YouTube comps of King Steve from HS#also still pushing my math teacher Steve agenda
This is not like a fully completed thought but yk
So I've done my first aid + CPR a few times. And every single time I try and bring up scenarios for fat folks
Specifically like 'what if someone is too large for me to wrap my arms around then to do the heimleich'
And its incredibly rare I get a decent answer.
How absolutely insane is it that me, as a fat person, is asking how to have MY life saved or to save ANOTHER life, is an impossible feat if someone is fat.
Most of the time they tell me to 'just try anyways uwu'
There has got to be a better option.
From a first aid and CPR trainer, who is also fat.
The heimleich is scientifically as effective as slapping someone VERY hard on the back. The only reason it's so well taught is the man that invented it did a lot of great PR for himself. It's also a bit easier for smaller framed people to get the necessary force in, because people are often extremely scared to hurt people, even in life threatening situations.
With larger bodied people, whether they be fat, tall, muscular, etc. If you cannot get your arms around them, literally just slap the shit out of their shoulders. You want hard, open palmed slaps right in the center of the shoulders or slightly below.
If they are too tall for you to reach that high, guide them to lean over the back of a chair, and then slap slap slap slap slap.
It's been proven to be just as effective through many studies. It just doesn't have a trademarked name and a dramatic effect in film.
If you have to do CPR on a larger bodied person, again, fat, body builder, tall and broad, whoever, the trick to finding where you want to put your hands if going to be to take your hand and shove it in their armpit. No seriously. Put your hand in their armpit, then drag it in a straight line towards yourself until you're in the center of the chest, then put your other hand beneath that one. This is where you push. Then you are going to move the arm closest to you out of the way so you can get closer to them, and get the leverage you need to press down for compressions. The more of your body weight that is over your hands, the better the compression will be. Act like you are trying desperately to pack the last of your clothes in a suitcase, and just slam down hard on their chest.
They will make *horrible* noises. You might even break ribs.
But a broken rib is better than being dead.
One day, perhaps, other CPR and First Aid instructors will actually know and teach this shit. But the medical field is filled with people who don't know, don't care, or just outright hate fat people. So while this information won't fix your complaint, I do hope it helps someone out there with saving their loved ones, should it ever be needed.
Information that will save lives.
Wayne gets off work and finds some kid wandering around a parking lot covered in bruises and nearly in tears because he canāt get the lid off a bottle of ibuprofen, and just takes the kid home.
He never really gets a clear answer out of the kid about where he lives or anything other than being worried about pissing off Hopper and his head hurting, so he stops trying.
He puts the kid to bed on the couch, leaves Hopper a nasty voicemail, and then stays up as long as he can manage to make sure the kid doesnāt die in his sleep.
This is how Eddie wakes up a couple hours later to find his uncle slumped over in a chair and Steve āThe Hairā Harrington asleep on the couch.
Hopperās POV
He drives back to Joyceās busted up house after Eleven closes the gate and finds a kid he doesnāt know passed out on the floor and Steve looking like he died, came back, and was making a valiant effort to die again.
Not great, all around.
He makes sure Will is okay and then leaves Eleven with Joyce (this is fine, ideal for this scenario). He hauls Billyās unconscious ass into his truck, pulling a muscle in his back in the process, and then puts Steve in the passenger seat.
Steve immediately vomits up blood onto the carpet as soon as the car starts moving (less ideal). Hopper looks at the pool of blood seeping into his interior and says, āThatās probably from your nose bleeding.ā
Steve says a truly pathetic voice, āIt sucks.ā
Hopper chooses to ignore the tears in his voice out of respect and instead asks questions about what happened. His words seem to slide off Steve because he doesnāt really get an answer to anything other than the fact that kid wants to go home.
Hopper gets to the hospital and places Steve in a chair in the waiting room. He tells him to sit tight for a minute, āWe figure this out and then you go home. Got it?ā
Steve, not having a good grip on much of anything right now, āGot it.ā
Hopper gets a gurney and a couple of nurses to help get Billy out of the truck, and then ends up in a twenty minute interrogation with the head nurse about what drugs he was on. He was asked a lot of questions about Billy despite - and Hopper cannot overstate this enough - he does not even know the kidās name. Much less know if he has any allergies.
The nurse doesnāt budge so Hopper ends up radioing Powell and having him - no questions asked - drive out to Joyceās and ask Max Mayfield what her brotherās damn name was. She also didnāt know his allergies.
A whole hour passes before he makes it back over to where he left Steve, but the kid is gone.
Hopper kinda assumes that Steve was taken back by a nurse to be treated and is promptly proven wrong when he asks for his room number.
Then comes hours or searching the hospital, the surrounding roads, the Harrington house, and then circling back to Joyceās. He checks in on El, lies about Steveās whereabouts to the other kids, and then formulates a game plan with Joyce.
He ends up pulling Powell and Callahan in on the search but no one really comes up with much until Hopper stops to get coffee a little after five AM. The cashier says that yeah, he saw a beat up kid.
The cashier nods like, āYeah, kid was in a bad way. Almost called ya myself but someone picked him up.ā
āWho?ā
āI dunno, man. A friend?ā
This lead goes dry almost immediately. Steve, he realizes, doesnāt have a lot of friend and the Hagans hadnāt hear from him.
He doesnāt get anywhere until he stops by his house for a change of clothes and listens to Wayneās message on his answering machine.
Running on zero sleep and sheer force of will, Hopper shows up at Wayneās front door where he is told to go home. The boy is alive and he aināt leaving.

Eddie Munson engaging in hanky code is a common trope in fan-fiction. However, I think itās more funny if he had no idea the implications and keeps being aggressively hit on by Steve who is wholly in the know and interested. Eddie spends weeks freaking out like āHow does Harrington know? Am I that easy to clock? Who else has been clocking me?!ā He gets like super paranoid about it and finally breaks down in front of Steve begging to know what heās doing thatās putting himself in danger in bumfuck Hawkins, Indiana.
Your art is SO PRETTY!!!!!
Thank you anon, so are you!!

Ok, a little explanation here: someone requested me a Kas Eddie, but I accidentally deleted the ask, so I'm using this thoughtful comment from anon here to give you what you requested! Please consider yourself tagged (or DM me so I can edit this and tag you!) [@izzy2210 they appeared!] And the thing is, I immediately thought of @azrielgreen's You're Divine. This fic broke me, her writing is amazing, so full of feeling, soul shattering, and the story... honestly, one of the best I've read. I really hope I captured the daylight that Little Bit so tirelessly makes in Steve's heart.
Ao3 does not need an algorithm, you're just lazy
Ao3 does not need a 1-5 star rating system, you just want to bring down authors writing for FREE
Ao3 does not need automatic censorship, it is an archive, therefore anything can be posted
Writing or reading about something illegal does not mean the author nor the reader condones it, if that were true, you could never read a story involving anything negative
Purity culture is ruining fan culture and you all are fucking annoying
It's been running around my head the idea of Eddie and Wayne inheriting a house from like, a distant aunt or something, and then they move to a distant small town
It's nothing fancy, actually pretty much the opposite, what with it being abandoned for some time. The lawn is overgrown, the roof is falling, the plumbing is shit, but it's theirs and nobody can take it away from them.
They start working pronto, with Wayne assessing what they'd need to make it somewhat liveable until they could make it a true home. He sends Eddie on his way to the hardware store, where two bored employees were behind the counter.
Eddie nods at them, and grabs everything Wayne put on the list that he can find, then goes to the cashier to pay.
He smiles at the guy, who's looking at him a little wide eyed. Maybe he's never seen a metalhead before. He eyes the name tag pinned to his (very form fitting, very flattering) shirt.
"So, Steve. There's some stuff I couldn't find in store, where could I buy them?"
The guy clears his throat.
"Can I see what you're missing?" Eddie gives him the list, some of it crossed out. "Yeah, we can order it for you, but it may be a while until it's here ."
"Eh, I don't mind. My uncle and I just moved in, we're fixing up a great-great aunt's house, just down the street. I think it's okay for now, with what I have. I'll just order in and pay for what I already got."
Steve rings him up, throwing some discreet looks at him, then turning away and blushing lightly. Eddie finds him adorable.
"So, that house looks a lot run down, do you guys need a hand?" Steve says while giving Eddie his receipt. Eddie smiles.
"We certainly wouldn't mind a little help. Look, here's my number." He pulls Steve's hand closer to his, snatches a pen from the holder and scribbles down his number. "Bye, Stevie."
Eddie winks before walking to the door. He doesn't hear Steve answering a trembling bye, nor Robin's (his co-worker and best friend) slapping his shoulder.
"Steve."
"I know, Robin."
"Steve!"
"I know, Robin!"
"You're a disaster with any type of construction work!"
"I fucking know, Robin!"
She looks at him.
"You're a lost cause, doofus."
"... I know, Robin..."

so much rage for anyone who tells the story of the radium girls likeĀ āohoho werenāt people in the 20s fucking stupidā and not likeĀ ācorporate greed has always cost peopleās lives and healthā
History Lesson:
The Radium Girls were factory workers who painted glowing markers on watches. They pointed their paint brushes with their lips after being told do so and that it was safe for them to do so by their managers. The paint had radium in it to promote the glow.
Dentists became the first people aware of the medical complications happening amongst all the women working in this factory. Complaints of loose bones, teeth, ulcers, etc. began to circulate amongst the staff.
Eventually, the girls started to die. The first oneās jaw literally came off her skull before her death as a result of radiation poisoning.
Perhaps all of that you could say was āstupidityā on behalf of the workers and corporation.
But what came next wasnāt. The corporation, the U.S. Radium Corporation, originally called the Radium Luminous Material Corporation, lied to the public and said that their workers were dying from alternate causes such as syphilis. They continued to instruct their staff to work business as usual, perpetuating more deaths and illness amongst their staff so their product could continue to be made.
The Radium Corp offered to change the method of painting dials, but the alternative brushes slowed down work and they were paid by the dial. To continue earning the wages they needed, the girls were forced to continue to use the brushes that they had to wet with their mouths.
The girls eventually took the matter to court. They took it to court eight times because Radium Corp continued to appeal until 1939.
As a result of their win, which provided a settlement to each girl a lump sum, a yearly stipend, and medical expensed paid by the company, LABOR LAW changed to ensure that companies could be held accountable for not properly protecting their employees from disease. New health regulations and standards were put in place to keep workers safe and they stopped using the brushes after that point.
(I donāt have the data to say if there was a corresponding wage increase to factor for lost wages due to a slowing down after new regulations were made).
The point, though, is that this company willfully knew that its staff was geting sick and dying from the procedures they put in place, and lied to their staff and started a public smear campaign saying these women had sexually transmitted diseases instead.
Thatās not on the āstupidā women, thatās corporate greed.
Iād also like to add that they were intentionally delaying the court case so there would be less girls left alive to be there. Even after theyāre caught, they are still heartless shits. Donāt ever forget these poor women and the company that thought cycling through workers and leaving a trail of bodies was worth making more money at the top.
When they say regulations are written in blood, this is what they mean. Remember that when the government tries to cut back regulations, saying they cost companies too much money.
