Glorfindel and the Balrog par Alan Lee
"Then Thorondor bore up Glorfindel's body out of the abyss, and they buried him in a mound of stones beside the pass; and a green turf came there, and yellow flowers bloomed upon it amid the barrenness of stone, until the world was changed." 🥺🥺❤️❤️
from The Silmarillion, "Of Tuor and the Fall of Gondolin"
so silly.

It’s been years since I stopped following J. K. Rowling anywhere. To me, that woman is just gone from the face of the earth. But then sometimes, her name pops into my feed and I think: oh god, what has she tweeted now?
For many of the current teenage generation, J. K. Rowling used to be a childhood hero. But her thoughts and her ideals no longer fits what the modern world thinks and wants and needs.
We are a generation of change. It is with us that the world has realized it’s mistakes and it is us that take action. Just look at the BLM protests. Just look at the environment protests. Just look at pride. We are a generation of change!
When I was young, I hoped to be like J. K. Rowling. Her life seemed like a dream. Now I hope I’ll never be compared to her about anything. Ever. J. K. Rowling might have created the Harry Potter universe. But she doesn’t own it. We do.
So now, during pride month, and during every single other month in the year, I urge everyone to continue to build the Harry Potter universe into what we want it to be. Reblog trans HP art. Read trans HP fanfics. And gay ones, lesbian ones, non binary ones, asexuall ones, any type of sexuality or gender identity ones. We will not let this woman bring down an entire generation.
So, when our hero’s fail us, we don’t lie down and think that this is it. We fight back. And we will win! Because love conquers all. Happy Pride month, everyone🏳️🌈

executive dysfunction be like *wants to do something* *doesnt do it* *feels bad* *wants to do something* *doesnt do it* *feels bad* *wants to do something* *doesnt do it* *feels ba
I recently learnt that executive dysfunction can be broken down into two main categories: anxiety that your attempt won't be satisfactory, or confusion about where to start or how to break it down into steps. As much as we feel bad about it, it's extremely important to remember that it is NOT laziness and we in fact shouldn't feel bad.
hey reblog this instead
And @imladrimweek day 7 (too late again) is Glorfindel! I hot a bit carried away with the golden flower thing
i call this one “mood”
“if somebody becomes panicked when you accuse them of lying theyre obviously not telling the truth” shut up ugly im a survivor who got punished for shit i never did all the time of fucking course im gonna panic when im blamed for something i didnt do
since this post is actually getting attention rn i really want to emphasize this-
many of the “tells” of lying are traits commonly found in abuse survivors and mentally ill/disabled people.
stuttering, averting eye contact, panicking, raising your volume, fidgeting, and other similar traits are actions performed commonly by these groups, especially in situations of heavy stress- such as being accused of doing something we didnt do, especially if we are afraid of being punished for doing nothing.
im honestly begging people to think critically when accusing somebody of lying for small traits like these.

Alternate Book Covers - The Fall of Gondolin by J.R.R. Tolkien
In the Tale of The Fall of Gondolin are two of the greatest powers in the world. There is Morgoth of the uttermost evil, unseen in this story but ruling over a vast military power from his fortress of Angband. Deeply opposed to Morgoth is Ulmo, second in might only to Manwë, chief of the Valar.
Central to this enmity of the gods is the city of Gondolin, beautiful but undiscoverable. It was built and peopled by Noldorin Elves who, when they dwelt in Valinor, the land of the gods, rebelled against their rule and fled to Middle-earth. Turgon King of Gondolin is hated and feared above all his enemies by Morgoth, who seeks in vain to discover the marvellously hidden city, while the gods in Valinor in heated debate largely refuse to intervene in support of Ulmo’s desires and designs.
Into this world comes Tuor, cousin of Túrin, the instrument of Ulmo’s designs. Guided unseen by him Tuor sets out from the land of his birth on the fearful journey to Gondolin, and in one of the most arresting moments in the history of Middle-earth the sea-god himself appears to him, rising out of the ocean in the midst of a storm. In Gondolin he becomes great; he is wedded to Idril, Turgon’s daughter, and their son is Eärendel, whose birth and profound importance in days to come is foreseen by Ulmo.
At last comes the terrible ending. Morgoth learns through an act of supreme treachery all that he needs to mount a devastating attack on the city, with Balrogs and dragons and numberless Orcs. After a minutely observed account of the fall of Gondolin, the tale ends with the escape of Tuor and Idril, with the child Eärendel, looking back from a cleft in the mountains as they flee southward, at the blazing wreckage of their city. They were journeying into a new story, the Tale of Eärendel, which Tolkien never wrote, but which is sketched out in this book from other sources.
Following his presentation of Beren and Lúthien Christopher Tolkien has used the same ‘history in sequence’ mode in the writing of this edition of The Fall of Gondolin. In the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, it was ‘the first real story of this imaginary world’ and, together with Beren and Lúthien and The Children of Húrin, he regarded it as one of the three ‘Great Tales’ of the Elder Days.
The Dwarves: we cant go through the front door, we need to find a secret entrance
Frodo, Sam, & Gollum: we cant go through the front door, we need to find a secret entrance
Fingolfin: *bang bang* Morgoth come out so I can kick your ass
Turin: Let’s build a bridge so our enemies can march right up to our front door.
Fëanor: *to melkor* Get the hell away from my front door
Tolkien obviously had something with front doors
Hurin: TURGON! WHERE’S THE FRONT DOOR?
Idril: The front door’s overrated. I’m going to build a secret back door.
