Sirius Black is an infuriating know-it-all in class. James has his eyes on him since the start of their NEWTs classes but maybe the anger he's feeling about being outshined is actually something else... Maybe, just maybe, James is crushing a little on the aloof and clever Ravenclaw. And maybe, just maybe, James finds himself falling in love hard and fast in between snogging sessions and map making, secret passages and Quidditch games. You know, just maybe.

⭐ There is only one coffin (vampire Prongsfoot)

James is a freshly turned vampire on the hunt for a coffin to hide in from the sun. He finds one at an inn, but there is one problem: he's not the only one in need of that coffin. So why not share? ** "There is only one bed" but it's a coffin because they're both vampires

⭐ in the woods somewhere (Knight & Mage AU, Prongsfoot)

James is a knight on a mission to make a name for himself, doing good deeds throughout the kingdom and saving poor villagers from the threats of magical beasts. Sirius is a mage, living in a small cottage in the woods. It's a new beginning for him there, far away from the life that was meant to be his, decided for him by others. It's a small, quiet life, but he's free. When a wounded James knocks on Sirius' door, both of their lives take a new turn once more.

⭐The Art of Staggering and Falling

James Potter has a very bad week. The Ministry has fallen into Voldemort's hands. He's on the run, not knowing how his friends are doing and if they are even alive. The only thing he can do is travel north and hope to find the rest of the Order there. When a much-needed bath in a lake ends with a Death Eater surprise, James is forced to run once more – only to get Prongs' leg caught in a hunting trap. Things are not great for James Potter, but they might take a turn for the better when help enters his life in the form of Sirius Black.

Sirius comes from a long line of hunters. He was trained his whole life to become one too. All he needs to finish his training is his first kill. The vampire he finds for that purpose turns out to be a challenge though. James is fast and daring and beautiful. And lethal to Sirius' heart.

⭐ Unfinished Business (13.4k, ghost Sirius)

James' job as a nurse leaves him overworked and permanently tired, but he doesn't mind. It lets him ignore both his grief for his parents and the strange little things happening in his tiny London flat. But then one night after he loses the last connection to his parents, a man suddenly sits in his only kitchen chair and James can't ignore the strange little things any longer – there is a ghost in his flat. Sirius died there in the 80s. It was ruled a suicide, but even if he has no memories of that day, Sirius is very sure it was murder. So there's only one thing to do. With the help of his true crime obsessed neighbour Lily, barista and unhappy medium Remus, and emotional support baker Peter, James tries to figure out what truly happened to Sirius, since it's the only way to help a ghost move on. But the more time James spends with these people, the more he realizes there is a difference between living and existing. And the more time James spends with Sirius, the more he doesn't want him to leave at all.

If he's good at anything it's pushing away feelings after all. And if things get a little too much, if Lily sits a little too close to him on the couch in the common room, if James' fingers brush his neck and shoulder just a little too much from where he has flung his arm over the backrest of the couch, Sirius just gets up for a cigarette break. No big deal. It's an easy escape. And if his smoking gets concerningly much and frequent the more the school year goes on, it's easy to blame NEWTs stress for it.It's after they finish school where Sirius should have known his avoidance would come to bite him in the arse. * Sirius falls first, Lily and James eventually catch up with him

They just won a Quidditch match, it's party time in Gryffindor Tower, and Greta Catchlove sits on James' lap like it's her own personal throne, giggling at every word he says, twirling her hair around her fingers. “You're very subtle, Evans.” “Oh, shut it, Black,” Lily grumbles and takes a swig of her butterbeer.

Snippet of a prongsfoot fic I’ll never write but had lurking in my notes:

“You know,” and he would have glanced up at the false levity in his voice, had there not been so much confetti to get out of his already outrageous hair, “it is entirely possible that we’ve given the wrong idea of what event this is,” the voice finished, and James could almost hear the frown deepening on his friend’s face.

Flashbacks of earlier that evening sprung in his mind, yes the whole thing had been more sentimental than he expected, and he certainly thought the one hour of toasts was overkill, even if they were on his favourite topic; him and his best friend and how deep their friendship has been over the years.

“Well, it was our fault for serving that new goblin wine, you know how it gets people. Besides, everyone’s old now, they’ve lost their ability to have a proper rager”

Sirius moved, somehow the corners of his mouth turning down even deeper as he approached.

“Yes, well I reckon it was the whole wedding bit that confused them”

“what wedding bit?”

“Our wedding,”

“Don’t be daft, we’d need more wine if you wanted to make an honest man out of me”

Thanks for the tag @jenjentheboscostick! It was a week ago but now I finally have something to share. :) Here's a snippet of a short Prongsfoot fic that I've been working on lately...

It wasn't pretty. James's lip was cracked, and Sirius Black, the Slytherin he'd quarrelled with for all seven years at Hogwarts, had an ugly bruise forming on the side of his eye. They rolled on the cold stone floor, until James's back and head hit the floor with a thump, and for a moment, his vision was filled with stars.

"Ready to yield, Potter?"

"Fuck you, Black."

"How original. From where I see it, you have no options left."

Black had trapped James underneath him, capturing his wrists on either side of his head.

"It's over. I won." The sharp smile playing on Black's lips infuriated James. He could not give up. Would not give up.

According to my notes, this is the 330th time we've played the word game! It started on discord + the bird site in 2020 & later moved to bluesky + here. It was just a way to keep track of the days in 2020, since our community was pretty disoriented, but I think it's pretty cool we've kept it up. So ty.

This idea was born because @goldenlionprince reminded me of the glorious image of James in his sleeping bag in my alpinists prongsfoot fic:

And idk... It turned into actual caterpillars 😂 but since I've already done penguin AU, hamster AU, bunny AU and dinosaur AU, why not? Soon they will turn into butterflies and spend their days exchanging butterfly kisses and getting drunk on nectar together ❤️

The artist and the thief

Lily Evans was meant to help Severus Snape steal a gallery’s most valuable paintings. Instead, she robs it first, takes two obscure works by the same anonymous artist, and hides them where no one can find them.

Facing trial and desperate to escape the man who has controlled her life, Lily makes a bargain with former football protégé turned art critic James Potter: he will help her reach the mysterious artist, and she will help him recover the missing paintings. Extracts from a Jily story I am not working on

‘Ms Meadowes, has your client provided any information regarding the present location of the works?’ Dorcas rose. ‘No, Your Honour.’ A rustle passed through the gallery. Lily stared at the back of Dorcas’ gown. The paintings were safe. Safe and dry and wrapped in the material she had bought with cash she’d stolen from Severus when she first decided to go ahead with the plan. The new plan that did not involve her former partner. The judge turned another page. ‘What is their estimated value?’ ‘The combined insurance valuation is one million, eight hundred thousand pounds.’ A murmur escaped before the usher called for silence. Nearly two million now. The number had increased since the police interview. Paintings, apparently, appreciated when stolen. The artist, who the tabloids have named Messrs Prongs because of his signature antlers, should thank her, really. Although for that to happen, he would have to come forth with a real identity.

Light struck Lily’s eyes. Reporters surged against the temporary barrier, microphones extended between shoulders. Her own face stared at her from a phone held above the crowd: an old photograph, taken years ago, red hair loose and mouth open in laughter. She barely recognised the woman in it. ‘Lily! Lily, where are the paintings?’ ‘Were you working with the artist?’ ‘Why did you choose those two works?’ ‘Do you know the artist’s identity?’ ‘Did the artist help arrange the theft?’ ‘Are the paintings still in Britain?’ Dorcas kept one hand at Lily’s back and pushed her forward. A security officer opened a path, but the reporters moved with them, calling questions over one another. ‘Why Rebirth?’ She recognised that voice. Dorcas’ fingers tightened. ‘Keep moving.’ ‘Ms Evans, what did you see in the paintings?’ Lily turned around but almost immediately, Dorcas nudged her: ‘Keep moving.’ But she knew that voice. Yet it made no sense. James Potter could not be standing in a sea of journalists covering an art theft story. James Potter had been headed towards professional football last time she saw him. It was one of the reasons she had a blanket ban on anyone discussing the sport with her. And yet, in the brief moment she’d glanced behind her, she could have sworn she saw black hair sticking up at the back and square glasses framing hazel eyes. She shook her head. No, James Potter was the last person to be involved with anything concerning art.
