This panel gets misconstrued a lot but I always find it interesting how no one notes that the other elves are the ones being racist here, and what they're doing is asking Mithrun to play along in their social game.

They're dressing it up with niceties, trying to make fun of tall men for being offended, etc., and when asked a question, "What's another word for short-lived races?", which is implied to be a slur, or at the least offensive/outdated, he says the quiet part out loud.

Everyone else was being arrogant before this, laughing off the offense, and by saying this, he takes away the pretense of their jokes and prior statements, but he's the one whose called arrogant for not dancing around what everyone else was implying.

It's very much a double standard, and I find it interesting that Mithrun is the one who gets called racist for this bit, as if everyone else dancing around slurs and joking about acceptability politics wasn't a problem?
