āThe legends say the moon was the first waterbender. Our ancestors saw how it pushed and pulled the tides, and learned how to do it themselves. [ā¦] Our strength comes from the spirit of the moon, our life comes from the spirit of the ocean. They work together to keep balance.ā

my take on the question of ādo trans women have male privilege before transitioningā is, as always, āthe very fact that peopleās relation to oppression is so conditional - that one can be insulated from direct material harm under certain circumstances, while simultaneously being traumatized by the process in a way that merely causes indirect material harm instead - should tell you that āprivilegeā is often an oversimplified framework when attempting to deal with the nuances of realityā
that is to say: as someone in the closet, my financial circumstances are generally better than those of my openly trans friends. however, to remain in the closet is to constantly inflict low-level psychological harm on myself in order to avoid the possibility of high-level psychological harm, financial harm, and physical harm.
can we call this āprivileged?ā certainly not! itās an inherently fragile state, and one which simply changes the nature of the oppression I experience rather than removing it entirely. on the other hand, to suggest that itās wholly irrelevant to my material conditions is self-evidently absurd

Someone: hires a woman
Men: āTHIS IS LITERAL OPRESSIONā
The automatic assumption that recruiting women equals hiring less qualified people is some serious sexism at work.
I can't get over this little girl.....pretending to be long dead while someone digs up her body out of the ground. The jewelry laid out beside her...the hair clips....this is everything
i hate that men can look at me and have thoughts about me
you could curse a police officer out, kick their car, throw a temper tantrum and throw trash. and that still doesnt mean they get to kill you. what the fuck is wrong with yall? why do you think police get some special license to kill when they get disrespected?
if they cant do their job without murdering unarmed people, they dont deserve their badge, or anyones respect.
This is the type of behavior that is du jour for retail and service workers. We are expected to handle it patiently and professionally, even indulgently, but the police are allowed to respond to the same behaviors with murder in cold blood.
