all this time i have never been drawing hearts correctly. i've just been drawing the whole pulmonary artery tucked through the loop of the aortic arch before it branches when in reality it straddles the aortic arch, like a pair of legs when riding a horse. guess i'll have to use references instead of drawing it from memory if i try to draw gore next time

shout out to my oc sherbert because when i drew her i actually (sort of) got that part correct. i should really finish her comic because it's been over a year since i've worked on it and it was never even supposed to be very long

I updated my terms of service agreement with myself

ok so I decided to separate out my me blog from my "goobersoft" blog since that one's about software and computery things, plus "goobersoft" is just a perfect name for a fake computer technology company. and if I make that my main blog then i'll just have to post exclusively about softwarey things just to keep up with the prestige of the title. oooh. i'd be ever so cramped not being able to express my love of other stuff. not software i love:

Im trying to type out these logs like the world is watching or perhaps nobody is watching. That's what I do when I dance too. it gets cumbersome to hold the laptop and type at the same time. as avoiding collisions with people is only polite it never lasts too long. so..

Europe is building its own tech so it doesn't have to rely on American software. I wonder why America seems flaky rn? so thats cool. as an American I would feel left out, but American tech is riddled with exploitation or "enshittification", and I'd be happy if everybody used Linux for business and wasen't locked in to proprietary subscription based "solutions". Appently, as Germany found out some years ago, quitting cold turkey from a Microsoft addiction has some gnarly side effects. So this switching to better and mostly open source software proses is going to take at least a decade.

It's called The Eurostack initiative and was cooked up years ago by some logical forward thinking politicians and now it seems more important than ever:

written yesterday pubished today:

Just back form a cold brisk walk in my neiborhood. that kind of nose hair iceicle cold where you know you can't make it for long as a sqishy liquidy furless humanoid. But even the fured ones here at home are not interested in the slightest at the the prospect of the frosty wind that blew in with me as I shut the front door and take off my walking sneakers. as I was walking I maveled at the detail the fresh springkleing of power was leaving on the iced over crusty mud that formed the sides of the salt speckled road I walked apon little divots in the snow plowed grime filled in with white due to eddies and low preasure zones in the flow of blistering wind. Doubtless this could all be convincingly simulated realtime with a Geforce GOATblaster or RTX eggfryer but the sheer amount of variables that go into the real thing the mindbogling combination of mud, salt, complex organic material, photons and cosmic rays would crash any consumer ram before looking behaveing and feeling as real as the real thing. without overthinking it i should say it looks verry pretty. and desolate.

The snowy grain fields, ageing red barns and outdated tractors of my Upstate NY home stir in me a feeling of unplaceable nostalgia. A feeling I curiously found again in the work of my creative hero Simon Stålenhag. His meticulously detailed canvas textured digital photo overpaintings he depicts snowy 1980s Sweeden as an alternate timeline. oh! the retro is so good, and then he adds on the futureistic. His artwork is delicious like a strawberry milkshake and a game of Galaga. In his world a breakthrough partical phisics advancement has taken place catipulting the world into a strange splt in normality. He has really flushes out the lore of this alternate timeline and reading one of his artbooks you can really get a sense of how the retro future of boxy volkswagons and towering agricultural robots came to be and how the every day continues on for most poeple even though weird things are beginning to happen. I shoulden't try to do his work justice with my fawning, but I am cinsere. I imagine most nerds my age have been esposed to Simon's worldbuilding in some way or other since as he has gained more and more fame for the strange hobby of his and now has produced a fully flushed out roleplaying game set in this universe and a atmospheric whistfull netflix addaption of his "Tales from the loop" book.

Though he is a middle millennial and I, early genZ I can't help but think that Simon and I grew up with similar vibes seperated by time and geography.
