Monster?

They try and take his image and turn him into a monster who deserved what he got.

This is a beautiful, 17 year old kid doing/being a 17 year old kid... taking a picture of himself flickin' off the world... an act that they themselves, and/or that their own children in all likelihood have conducted in. No, they're not afraid of a unarmed child who apparently is capable of killing an armed adult male... no, they're afraid of a black person ---- a human being who was profiled, stalked and taken from this world for no reason other than being black. This type of injustice, simply based on the color of one's skin is quite commonplace in this shit excuse for a country... so much more commonplace. I was just a bit optimistic that such a high profiled case such as this one (a rarity in this media), out of the numerous incidents that occur, would be enough to encourage people and the "justice" system to take notice and simply do the right thing... or at least try and make up for its shortcomings. But again we are reminded that people of color are disposable in the eyes of these people and this shit excuse of a country (yes the adjectives begged to be repeated).

In the words of my dear homie Diana/Ma Dees:

Can't say I'm surprised. I can understand "Stand-your-ground" laws when someone is coming into your house or property to attack you, but they shouldn't apply when you go out looking for kids to harass. Zimmerman should have just let Trayvon kick his ass and learned his lesson that way."

... but instead, he shot and killed him. He claims self defense, yet he was the one who initiated the confrontation. I nor anyone else was there, however I find it hard to disregard the fact that whatever offensive attack ZImmerman attained he went looking for it... Trayvon did not. He was a black kid in America, walking back home from the store trying to keep dry in the rain. I'm inclined to believe that he was in fact "standing his ground."

No ladies and gentleman this poor baby in this photo is not a monster... the true monster is in the confines of those callous, ignorant cowards residing on that defense team, on that horribly selected jury, in those who refuse to see that a 17 year old child was harassed and murdered for no reason... and of course in the one who initiated all of this in the first place.

My heart goes out to you Trayvon Benjamin Martin... to your family, loved ones and our people - black, white and all against this fear, ignorance & injustice.

And especially to all of us black people of America... our struggle continues. Let this be reminder that we in fact have a looooong way to go. Let us enhance our brother/sisterhood and keep pushing forward --- progress.

April's Goals and Assessment

  ... hmm... not bad but not perfect. Some random $ issues came up that made me reconsider ordering the stickers and cards (however you will be pleased to know that at this moment they have been ordered... just waiting on this company that's pushed back my receiving date a few more times than I'd prefer... tryina keep it holy *woosah*).

The Rejoice and GOODJUA treatments... turns out finding time to truly devote the necessary focus and creatively stimulating space to properly churn these bad boys out is a bit more difficult than I hoped. I'm a well way into GOODJUA's treatment... there are just some spaces that I have yet to conjure up the right approach. Rejoice... I'm pretty sure the idea is pretty much cemented at this point from beginning to end, I've just yet to transfer it to paper/computer. 

... same for Caveats... there's this small snippet within that song... about  15-20 seconds tops that I have yet to precisely word. However the rest of the song is finite. I have the melody for that section. I have the direction in which I'd like to take it and I finally the rhythm for it as well (an aspect that's probably responsible for majority of the hold up... I tend to lack brevity). I just have to refine what I'd like to say to satisfy all three of those areas. Something that, once given a few devoted hours, can be knocked out no problemo.

In summation, I did pretty well this month. The few goals I didn't accomplish were either started on and considerably close to finished or stunted due to impeding circumstances reasonable enough to concede to (however, I will not allow for this to be an excuse for the coming months. I had a few extra curricular expenditures in April that I will strive to cut down on this May).

We'll see how I do this month... *fingers crossed*
