If I had a nickel for every time a Netflix Original Show with a massive fandom, that I personally adored, had a major ship between two male main characters that was never confirmed to not be endgame by the Writers.
And that same show used those characters as promotional material and fed into the audience by giving the fans hints to something deeper between them.
And if that show had a canon straight couple that included one of said men from the queer ship, that most people didn't think they had good chemistry.
And it seemed like they didn't really like each other all that much. But then, in the finale, the female character of the ship sacrifices themselves, and the 'straight' male character spends the rest of his life mourning her. But the gay ship never happens, and actually, it's never even talked about properly in the show.
And the 'straight' male character's personality in that final season is reduced to 'this girl's boyfriend who has barely any personality and doesn't stand for anything', where once he was incredibly silly, endearing, and honestly a bit of a dork.
And the fandom flips when it's not canon. Starts trying to rewrite the entire show. Sends horrible messages to the cast and crew.
And also the only brown female character in the show dies and is the only one who is demonised and set up to be hated by the audience who watch the show.
And also there's a gay character who gets an epilogue boyfriend while the rest of the straight cast get proper love interests. And they get together in the final few minutes and share no dialogue.
And also the gay character is possessed by the 'evil entity'.
Yeah. I'd have two nickels.
