i know it wouldn’t have been very relevant to the plot of the episode as a whole but i would have loved to have seen Joseph during Peter Coyle’s trial scene

I wanted to see him giving shifty looks, trying to assess how much of a handsome devil he really is

I wanted to see the way his jaw clenched and how his hand curled into a little fist on his knee when the charges were read out

I wanted to see the look on his face when he pleads guilty and he knows Phyllis isn’t going to have to testify, and he’s so happy, because all he wants is for her to be spared as much of it as possible

But, you know, we got exploding Lord Grantham instead

Elsie Hughes, person: I am worried about all the things but especially about being able to please my future husband, plz Mrs Patmore, run interference. I want a big wedding breakfast and a bit of a shindig, but Mr Carson wants a posh do, so tough cheddar for me. I am a late-middle aged woman with little to no money, I'll wear my brown day-dress because it is the only dress I own that isn't black, but I am a little sad about it

Me: LET ME HOLD YOU UNTIL EVERYTHING IS FINE PLEASE DON'T WORRY MPATZ GOT YOU A DRESS MARY GETS YOU AN EVENING COAT AND MR CARSON WILL ADORE YOU IN IT AND OUT OF IT PLEASE DON'T WORRY SOOOOOOO *momentarily forgets that Mrs Hughes is a woman of many facets and will continue to be so now she's Mrs Carson*
