This corner of the internet is for books, fan art, and general chaos (mostly spoiler-free, but the occasional spicy post might make an appearance — you’ve been warned).
I'm an avid reader with a chaotic TBR and a deep love for dark fantasy, romance, morally grey characters, and yelling about plot twists at 2AM. Book recs? Always welcome. Please enable my habits.

As a person, you’re totally right. Elain doesn’t owe Lucien anything. She never needs to talk to him, can ignore him forever or break the bond.
But as a character? Elain (or actually SJM) owes it to Lucien (the readers) to at least explore the option of Lucien. If Elain never talks to Lucien, rejects the bond without ever spoken to him, it would leave a huge plot hole. It wouldn’t make for an actual compelling story
I feel like many people forget Elain isn’t a person, but a character. Elains book and story wouldn’t make any sense if the option of Lucien isn’t at least explored
the trees you grew up with have not forgotten you. their branches still whisper your name in the breeze and their roots remember the paths your feet once traced through their shade.
