“HEY MAXIE DID’JA HEAR?”
“No... I didn’t hear, hear what?”
So some extremely last minute decisions were made and I found out I’m gonna be going to anime expo for all four days! That being said i’ll be staying at a friends house and I probably won’t be bringing my laptop, so replies and any starters I owe will be up when I come back on monday. However, if you want to get into contact with me, you can find my twitter here!
Welp!
After thinking about it for a while, I’ve decided that I’m not going to have Max participate in the chaos going on surrounding the city. He’s not a really good muse for it and I’d rather not have this muse possibly die. ever tbh
Sorry about that, but he might be making occasional comments every now and then.
#FreeTheGoofs
“By golly Maxie I’m sure they’ll have a pool. Forcing good folks here and not letting them enjoy a pool would be in bad manners. A-hyuck. So come on. I’m sure we’ll find a sign somewhere telling us our exact spot and use that as our starting point with this here map. It’ll be a another adventure. Can you feel it Maxie? I can.”
Starts whistling.
♪Do you wanna try a hand at modern living? In a deluxe apartment in the sky Where the trains all run underground and most of the pedestrians have a frown Under the foggy skies here in the city of Hive. ♪
He began shaking his hips to un-found rhythm found in the city. From the busker drumming on an upturned bucket, to the various gun shots ranging through back alleyways. Matching his pitch to the sounds, turning towards his clearly embaressed son.
Oh, no no no no, was he... was he starting to sing? He tends to do this quite a lot, but it doesn’t make it any less embarrassing. He covered his eyes with his hand, following after his father in an attempt to stop him before they got too much attention on them again. Though, it had already been too late.
Dang...he really had an ability to pick up a beat from just natural sounds in anything, could he? Once Max could hear it too, it was hard for him to un-hear it - and no matter how hard he tried to get him to stop, nothing would work...
...So he might as well do what he thought was best.
He rolled his eyes and exhaled a sigh, crossing his arms over his chest as he continued following after Goofy.
“ ♫ All in all, I’d rather be stranded All in all, I’d rather be with the guys! And the old man dances like a doof, makes me embarrassed to be a goof - Listen to me, the city of hive!”
The demon chuckled, at least he’s not nearly as snappy as Bis. “A shame, I know a few people like you but unfortunately they aren’t in the city.” She WISHES she was. Watching Bis struggle is a pastime for her. Though with ill intentions, Hanten reached her hand out for a handshake. Her black, scaly, sharp clawed demon hand.
“The name’s Hanten, I wish I could tell ya what to expect but I myself ain’t been here for that long.”
“All though, there are a few rumors bouncing around that i’ve heard… wanna hear ‘em?”
Max looked downwards towards her hand. The first thing he took notice was how...painful it must’ve felt to shake her hand. He looked down at his own hand before hesitantly reaching out to place it in hers- hopefully the gloves he wore would shield out any uncomfortable feelings he could’ve gotten?
“It’s nice to meet you then... Han...ten?” He said her name in an unsure way, hoping that he was saying it right. The way he said it just felt foreign to his tongue, but he’d get used to it if they were to talk more than once.
“Oh, rumors, huh? Sure, lay ‘em on me.”
The young child grinned, happy to see that they had gotten his attention. It might have been subtle, but they noticed the blush. That was what they were hoping to accomplish. But, of course the mood was dropped with the other information. That was to be expected with the knowledge you’d given them.
“Yeah. They won’t notice, not even if you disappeared mid-conversation. Time is different for us here than for other people.”
They offered another smile. Maybe he would take that will. Then again, how horrible would it be to never be missed, to never have a search party looking out for you. It didn’t effect them too much, since they were in a special situation, but Max seemed normal.
“Nothing that happens here can haunt your real life. Unless there’s someone else from your world here, I think.”
“I see...” Max sighed softly. There was something tugging in the back of his mind - maybe it was the fact that...Roxanne was back at home, and she was going on with life not even aware that he was gone and spending time with...him? That’s what he was thinking it was like.
He wondered what life was like back at home. It did kind of hurt knowing that nobody would be aware he was gone, but he’d get used to the feeling eventually.
“That’s good, at least nobody will question where I’ve been if I ever come back, but...yeah, there is someone from my world here.” He hesitated in his words for a few seconds and took in a deep breath.
“At least, I think so? We were on the road somewhere and I was brought here. He was with me so I’m only gonna guess he’s here, too.”
Normally, running a radio station meant that copies of new releases were sent to you for promotional purposes. The system had its faults but that’s how it worked back home. But none of those major record labels really existed here. Music from all worlds was still produced and released here, but how was a mystery. It meant that Flammelle had to actually buy physical copies of everything they might want to play over the airwaves.
His intentions had been to look through the window first but moved back when someone else turned around. Fortunately enough they didn’t seem to slam directly into the glass. Paying for the window and getting Max first aid is now how he wants to spent today.
“Are you alright? I don’t think any of the glass broke but worth checking just in case. Getting cut is never pleasant.” Carefully, he reaches a hand out to help Max steady themselves.
“We should probably get away from the window too. I did want to look, but helping you get your balance back is important. This way we aren’t stopping anyone else from seeing the displays.”
Max took the strangers hand and took a few short seconds to balance himself. It was pretty embarrassing that he wasn’t paying attention to where he was going and ended up bumping directly into someone, but that was his fault. He couldn’t put the blame on anyone else. He cleared his throat and gave Flamelle a smile.
“Yeah, I’m alright. Thanks, man.”
Max took one more look over his shoulder to look through the window. He couldn’t help but be curious about what was inside. There was no way he would have enough money to buy anything, as much as he wanted to, but maybe one day?
“Oh, yeah! We should. We could...go inside? I kinda wanted to take a look around, too. I can’t buy anything but it looks cool in there.”
“Oh don’t mind them Maxie. They are just jealous they don’t have a father who loves them as much as I love you.” He minded his son, now moving his hands to place them firmly against the younger Goof’s shoulders. Reassuring Max that everything is fine. Eyes glaring at the crowd around them and cleared his throat waiting for them to disperse.
“Y’all can leave now you hear?”
“You know Maxie? You’re right. I’m sure if we wander around there will be a good soul to help us find our rooms for the while. Hey do you reckon it might have a pool? I can dip my toesies for a moment. You can check out some hot…what do you kids say? Nickles? Some Hot Nickles.”
Even if he was being completely and utterly embarrassing(when wasn’t he, anyways? It’s what he knows best.) Max could still appreciate that he noticed he was feeling uncomfortable. He rubbed at his arm gently and avoided eye contact with him for a few seconds, but there was still a hint of a smile on his face as he heard his father shoo everyone off.
“....A pool?”
It would be pretty nice to have a pool that they could go to every now and then. But by the looks of this place, it was highly unlikely that an apartment here could have something like a pool. It was still a nice thought, though. “Maybe, but I’m not expecting it.”
Hot... nickles. What was he trying to get at? Max stood there silently, staring up at him with a confused look on his face.
Send me a 🎁 + an object for my muse’s reaction to being gifted that object.
i've been crying reading yours & goofsr's threads this is the best thing that's ever happened to citta in a while
OH MY GOD?? ? ?? ? thank you so much omg max and goofy are our favorites i’m. so glad you think that! ;u;
What do you think of my characterisation?
“C’mere sonny.”
He wrapped an arm around Max’s shoulder and held him close. Laying a kiss upon his head, displacing a few hair before pulling away. Doing it again Laughing as he does. The thought of it was nice to say the least.
“We’ll be roomies Maxie. You and me. It’ll be an extended vacation. Perhaps find a local diner and see how well they can make blueberry pancakes. It’ll be like old times. Me and my boy. Two eligible bachelors in their bachelor pad.”
He’s too much in shock to even register that his dad is suddenly pulling him in and giving him kisses until he hears him speak, and as quickly as he can, he breaks away from the embrace and fixes up the hair that had been messed up. Max takes a look at the people surrounding them and immediately takes notice that some of them are laughing and pointing at them, making him grow red to the face as he attempted to hide his face from the crowd.
“Yeah, we can do that, I guess. Can we find the apartment?”
“Just to..unpack, or just check out how it looks like.” Truthfully, he just wanted to get away from the laughing crowd, not wanting to be out in public for too much longer.
“Max? That’s a nice name. Is it short for Maximum Coolness?” Now is not the time for flirting with random strangers, but then it never was.
“Welcome to Hive City. Hive City is a social experiment run by a group of scientists that takes a lot of people from different worlds and bring them all into one. You were probably told this before, but it’s hard to really pay attention when you first arrive.
“I know this must sound bad, but it’s really not that bad. Nobody in the outside world will think you’re missing and you just have this free time to make friends and do cool stuff while you’re here. Everyone has a blank slate, a chance to try over, and become something great, even kids like me. I’m sure you’ll find a place where you fit in soon.”
Maximum Coolness.
They weren’t wrong, but the comment was enough to make his cheeks flush a light pink. It wasn’t too obvious, but it was clear that he was flattered.
“You’re not wrong there.”
He listened to them as they spoke, taking in their explanation. It was a little bit surreal to fully accept what he was hearing when they finished it up - a social experiment? That sounded like something that would in a comic book he’d read - not something that would ever happen to him in reality. His jaw drops just a little bit as he tries to find the right words to say, before he crosses his arm over his stomach and rests his elbow on his arm.
“So- if I’m hearing this right, nobody back at home will even notice I’m missing?”

It was only a glance, a quick look before Aqua did a double-take. Was that– well, it wasn’t like one would see a walking dog every day, but the blue-haired knights heart almost stopped. If that was Goofy, then maybe others were here too– Donald, the King… Maybe even Ventus! Sure, she was getting her hopes up, but the bipedal canine had given Aqua hope she hadn’t felt in so long. Aqua grasped at the happiness with both hands.
“Goofy– hey!”
Her voice was lighthearted in ways that it hadn’t in a long time. Heart feeling as if it were to jump out of her chest, Aqua jogged up to the knight– but on closer inspection he was… different. He was shorter, slouched a bit more. His usual armor and shield as gone as well, fitted with more casual clothing…
But– she couldn’t give up hope! Maybe today was his day off, even knights needed them after all. She would know.
“It’s so good to see you again–!”
He wasn’t exactly sure where he was going, just letting wherever his feet take him wherever they wanted to go. That probably didn’t make a lot of sense, but that was the least of his worries. Max looked around at the unfamiliar buildings, trying to get a sense of what they were. His dad had shoved a map in his hands before he left with their apartment marked down so he wouldn’t get too lost on the way back, but...
If he was being honest, the map probably won’t help too much.
He perked up as he heard an unfamiliar voice call out for his dad’s name. This was the second time someone’s recognized his dad, but ... from the looks of it, his dad wasn’t anywhere near him. He looked around and turned around, seeing a girl run up to him with a smile on her face.
“Oh, uh...”
“Sorry, but you’ve got the wrong Goof. You know my dad...?”
“Well, you are right sir! People like different things after all; it all comes down to perspective! You should try before assuming things through though, you never know until you try!”
“You’ve got a point there, but... I don’t really think getting a pet rock of my own would change my opinion any?”
He says it with an unsure tone hinted in his voice. He wouldn’t be shoving the idea off completely to the side, but if it was something he could avoid...that would be preferred.
@goofjr
“Woah, didn’t expect to see any animals here. I guess this place aint no different from home after all.” Hanten loomed over the other, emitting the dangerous aura she’s known for. The only anthromorphic animals she knows would be Bis and her father… but the question is, does he tick as easily as Bis?
“You seem a bit.. out of place.”
Max took a small step back as the girl appeared to tower over him. He let out a nervous laugh, rubbing at his arm nervously as he eventually made eye contact with her. Out of place-? Wow, you think? Of course, he didn’t want to say that out loud. He knew very little of the people who inhabited the city, one wrong move and who knows what would happen to him.
“Out of place would be an understatement.”
“I haven’t seen many others like me but my dad, it’s kind of...nerve-wrecking, I guess?”
wow ok even though i’ve been kind of memey lately since i’ve joined and it’ might be a little hard to see my actual portrayal of the character i hope i’m getting max down! him and goofy are my favorite disney characters and i can only hope i’m doing him justice ;u;/
