Since you're a fan of Sekiro I can't help but wonder. Does Will's prosthetic got any cool battle features like Wolf's? I know back in like chapter two there was an arm that came with a lighter.
He's got... one trick installed at the moment. You'll see it in a few pages.
Do Sette’s wings let her fly now?
It's hard to tell! Maybe they just popped out because the First Soul is paying attention to this. Maybe they only let her glide?
We'll have to see!
Sette was already OP in Unsounded 1, and the devs fucking buffed her in the sequel?!? Just because the average Sette main is too much of a noob to properly utilize soul manipulation doesn't mean she needed buffs! But sure, give her more mobility options why don't they.
And of course this would happen at the same time that they gut my main. I don't care that he got a new skin, Duane is stone-cold unplayable rn. Tacit Casting isn't even that good at high-level play, but I guess the masses would rather cry for him to get nerfed to hell than learn to think a bit about what a tacit opponent is LIKELY to be casting.
Look Outside is now available DRM-free on GOG! Also it is 30% off right now as part of the Devolver spring sale.
Look Outside is a survival horror RPG set in a single apartment building. A mysterious
“Alderode’s evil is its people” — isn’t that just more of the same kind of nationalist bs that Duane used to spout? Dehumanizing an entire society and not thinking of its individuals as people? Seems surprisingly ignorant for someone who’s supposed to be a smart engineer/artificer..but I suppose we all tell ourselves whatever we need to hear so we can sleep at night? :) -AwkwardAnon
Never confuse emotional intelligence with academic or professional intelligence. They are completely different.
Getting directly attacked - in Nora and Cresce's case, repeatedly - activates some pretty raw tribal instincts. It has to, it's supposed to, that's how we survive against each other as humans. Your brain looks for what it must attack or defend from in order to keep you and your family safe. It looks for dangerous patterns that match your attacker.
And so many people start fearing everyone in a certain nationality, or race, or political party, or religion, or gender.
It's almost impossible not to do this, it's how your brain works. It's how it evolved to keep you alive. You can actively battle against it - and you must and you probably will, if you're a certain type of person - but it's still going to happen.
I was 20 when 9/11 happened and suddenly I despised Muslim people and wanted to drop nuclear bombs on the Middle East. Everyone around me did. In a hippie-dippie art college! I hadn't even known what Islam was before that day, but I was now super scared of anyone who believed that stuff. Everyone was.
I channel a lot of that old ugly when I write Duane, Lem, and now Nora. It's very logical fear, and fear turns your higher intelligence off; makes you reactive and violent. The kind of intelligence that helps you design a pymaric ogre or write a webcomic is useless at keeping you immediately alive against an enemy tribe that you perceive is working towards your destruction. Survival is always the imperative.
In Nora's case, having first-hand experience and knowledge of her enemy works against them even harder, because she not only fears them, but she fundamentally disagrees with their repressive culture and is even disgusted by how the "innocents" fall in line with the mega-evils of their government. Just like Duane thought the best thing the Litriya children could do was die, Nora thinks the best thing the "innocents" of Alderode can do is die. New lives for all.
Ultimately, this is a sentiment born of utter frustration; an inability to change another group's mind and in doing so, save them. "They're so STUPID!" you think, "They can't be reasoned with!" So instead you wish for their destruction, and think of that as a mercy. Not only mercy for them, who are too stupid and backwards to live, but mercy for your own people, who will now be safe.
You see this sentiment a LOT in current politics (and in past politics, and in all politics forever). Is there not some group of people, Anon, that you (maybe very quietly, very distantly) have this feeling about? A group you wish would just vanish from the earth because they are too STUPID to exist and their existence threatens you or a group of people you care about or belong to? And as a smart person maybe you realise they only behave how they do because of the environment they're in, and that they're "innocent" otherwise, but you know you cannot change who they are or what they think, and you know that their behaviour is harmful. Don't you wish they'd somehow, just, go away?
And if they did then boy howdy, you really would sleep well at night.
I keep telling myself I should get better at sharing more silly, unfinished art in here, so I might as well start with some @unsoundedcomic fanart.
Here’s the obligatory reminder that if you haven’t read Unsounded yet, you totally should. Book 1 is finished and we have finally arrived in Alderode. To celebrate, I drew some Aldish kids doing what Alds do best: bully each other for having the wrong haircolor.
Love this!
Ashley Cope's legendary dark fantasy webcomic continues its jump to print, with volumes 3 and 4!
Feels weird advertising the next crowdfund when the books from the last haven't yet shipped, but so it goes! This won't launch until later in the year but you can follow the Kickstarter campaign page for updates so you don't miss it.
Unlike books 1 & 2, 3 & 4 are entirely new content that's never been in print before, covering the end of the Nevergreen arc, Ethelmik's destruction, the introduction of Ruckmearkha and Queen Sonorie, the arrival at Litriya Shrine, really the thickening of the entire plot! There's also a bonus Kissfist Baxter story, and a special something new I'm cooking up.
Give it a gander!

Now how do I get the cool shit like this instead of 8 trillion ads for tiktok.
The Red Cost: Prologue
•►LATEST UPDATE HERE◄•
Welcome to "The Red Cost," Unsounded's direct sequel. Find the entire 25-page prologue linked above (nudity warning!). If you look around you'll also find a new glossary, and some tweaked odds and ends here and there. Enjoy!
Single page updates will resume next Monday, 1/12. I'll also be posting entries for the Fanworks Contest! I've had a few people ask for an extension on the deadline, so if you just get your entry to me by next Sunday, I'll accept it. There is some really beautiful, compelling stuff in my inbox already~~
If you're looking for comic discussion, check the link box below for access to the awesome reader-run Discord, or consider becoming a direct patron of the comic on Patreon for the high res version of every update, and lots of extra art. Thanks for your patience during the break, and I hope you'll enjoy where the story goes next. "The Red Cost" is deeply personal to me in a lot of ways :)

A cozy little scene inspired by one of the questions on the AMA!
Drew this as thanks to one of Look Outsides' playtesters who didn't want any money for testing!
Good evening, Mr. Adelier! I hope it isn't too annoying to ask about, but, if you had landed the composer job, were there any pet project spells you had been considering for submission (seriously or otherwise)? With your focus on core technique, I'm curious what spellburns you felt were worth using regardless (and weren't available already). Ssael Fhikemen Rish!
Still a precious preoccupation of mine, such thoughts. I confess they with more excitation orbit around what I might have excised from the hubs than what I might have added. There are too many spellburns, and they engender in aspirants and veterans alike an overreliance on network access rather than good, strong Core Technique. If a spellwright cannot recite Inokae's Exchange at full form, he has but a mouthful of brains; yet since I was a boy I have heard the young braves barking their hubcalls like seals and then puffing their chests like feeder pigeons as though they had the doing of the conflagration their barks bring forth.
Ever there was a call in the service that pymary must be made simpler for the Plats! I say Nay! It must be more difficult; more calculations and mnemonics ere shamid ever ignites port!
...sometimes I think they would have killed me in the Capital less for my lowly caste than for my character.
actually pretty bleak that the charlie brown Christmas special is all about how commercialism destroys the holidays and our relationships and makes us casually cruel and shortsighted because consumerist obsession places all our hopes and excitement into material goods and shiny prizes. and now snoopy is so heavily commodified he's just like mickey mouse 2. he's just a gucci bag for quirked up internet users. a five below keychain used to signal that you are nonthreatening and cozycore. they're printing his face on potato chip bags this winter. what have you done to him. where's the shame. did charlie brown's plight mean nothing to you
Charles Schulz marketed the everliving fuck out of Peanuts when he was alive, from animated movies to handpies to balloons in the Macy's parade.
He wasn't a bad guy, by most accounts, but the preaching in his Christmas special was a sermon hyperfocused on keeping the Christ in Christmas, more than any kind of broad questioning of consumer culture. 'Cause the dude loved consumer culture.
Bill Watterson, on the other hand, aggressively prevented the commercialization of Calvin and Hobbes. Plenty of artists lose control of their IPs, through death or just a bad contract, but if you have the opportunity, live your values. No one else is going to live them for you.
warrior. brother.
Crazy good fanart. Also, JJK Modulo is impressing me.

Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
And this gem 👇
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)

Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)
Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)
IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)
Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)
NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
"also apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, I have Dyslexia and it makes my brain go XP when it comes to speech or writing"
Boosting this in case any of the programs and books suggested are useful.
All the photos on this tumblr ad the animal photo reference site I run is another resource available for artists to use!
As long as you’re not using AI to create your art, you can reference / trace / draw / recombine / make any sort of art you want, with any of the photos, for free.
There's also MORPHO, a really good book series on anatomy by Michel Lauricella, with very clear explanations and sketches!
And for pose references, there's @adorkastock who shares a ton of them for free, with different models and props, and her website is amazing <3 you can also buy pose packs from her.
