Many talk about their horrid experiments, about how they make themselves into eldritch aberrations. In truth, most folk at Bor'khannel are mainly healers, and have some of the best medical knowledge in the land. But they do often experiment their magic on themselves too, and thus, their outfits are meant to cover the results of said experimenting.

After over 7 years, I've finally updated/redesigned Kandris' ref :D Kandris here is a drow artificer (artillerist) / wizard and NPC in my campaign. Got the cool crystal arm in an accident helping the party, now he's got some fun lightning powers! He's mainly a researcher but his family expects him to attend to politics. His design was a bit challenging since I had to priorise his preference for practical clothing over my need to make every character exceedingly extra, but I think I nailed what I wanted out of him!

My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.
