A wee “bat.”
It’s a GARGLE… wait what?
Ya better hurry scurry from the hairy scary.
Over the past year, I’ve been collecting a bunch of colorful glass vases/jars and cheap walkway solar lights.
I thought if I stuffed the solar lights inside, it could look like cool garden lanterns but on the cheap.
BY GOLLY, IT TOTALLY WORKED.

Meditating with Anxiety
Soothing music. Check. Comfortable position. Check. Closed eyes. Check. Okay, breeeeathe... Inhale, exhale. Focus on your breath. Inhale, exhale. Focus on your breath.
Inhale, exhale.
Inhale, exhale. ...is my breath too deep and too slow? Should my inhale be slower than my exhale? Or faster and then slower? Or the same? What’s the right way to breathe for meditating, anyway? What if I breathe too slowly and I pass out from lack of oxygen? Maybe I should breathe faster. Is my heart beating weird now? Yeah, it’s definitely beating weird now and my lungs are... noticeable? I never noticed my lungs before when breathing. This isn’t working. Maybe I should start over again.
Okay, I’ll just start over by breathing normally to get a baseline tempo so I know how much slower to breathe for meditation.
Inhale, exha--Wait, how do I normally breathe? Just go back to breathing normal OMG I CAN’T REMEMBER HOW TO BREATHE NORMAL WHAT IS NORMAL BREATHING I can’t breathe right WTF is wrong with me, just breathe like a regular person, you spaz! i can’t remember how i used to breathe and now i’m hyperventilating a little i think i might pass out is my heart beating weird again it shouldn’t be this hard to remember how i usually breathe without thinking about it okay so just stop thinking about it and it will go back to normal just stop thinking about how you breathe BUT I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT NOW I’M OVERTHINKING IT AND HYPERVENTILATING AGAIN WTF i give up
...so, anyway, meditating with anxiety to help with my anxiety only gives me more anxiety, so this is truly going well, thanks for the tip.
A bunch of faux food grocery toys I made for my niece to play with in her play kitchen and play market. Made out of upcycled items and stuff around the house. Like fused plastic bags, cotton balls, yarn, paper bags, memory foam mattress pad (my dog had eaten a hole through it) and gift wrap tissue paper to name a few.
Finally done with this “ground beef” and “smoked sausage” upcycled grocery toys for my Niece’s birthday! Reusing foam trays at the base for both, the beef is pink yarn I got for $1 at the Dollar Tree, soaked in water and ModgePodge, shaped, dried, and the sausage is just old Schnucks plastic grocery bags stuffed with painted cotton balls and yarn, and the bags were fused together using an iron to give it that tight “skin.” Both are wrapped in a Glad ziplock baggie, doubled over (for extra strength against toddler mayhem) and fused with an iron. Custom label designed by me and covered with clear packing tape for protection. So much fun making these, but much more time consuming than I anticipated- plus a LOT of trial and error. Cost? $1 plus the small jar of ModgePodge which I’ve used for many of the other crafts. So maybe like $3 total. The rest was all stuff I already had around the house.
Kitten-approved.
Done! Finished my upcycled-junk-around-the-house toy sushi for my niece’s play grocery store. This is made from: junk mail, old gift wrap tissue paper, black duct tape, bits of a pool noodle, dish sponge, packing foam from a recent delivery, an old bandana, cotton swabs, and of course, a to-go sushi container from dinner that nearly made it into the recycling bin before the idea bulb turned on. Very happy with how this turned out.
Belated bday gift for my sister. Doodles of her cats.
DIY magical glowing garden orb. I’m so happy these turned out. I got the old light fixture bulbs from a thrift store and then stuffed them with solar string lights.
Thrift store haul. I’m so happy. Got all this for $25. 2 giant cushions, a funky pillowcase, a rainbowy hand towel, 12 glass vases/orbs (just wait til you see what I do with these!) a retro candle sconce (I’ve got big plans for that too) two adorable Tiffany blue plates, and three little stained glass sun catchers. Get ready. Crafts are coming.
It’s my kitten’s first birthday! I made her a birthday hat. Unsurprisingly, she showed no gratitude because she’s a cat and we humans are here to serve our feline masters. I call this series of photos “Evil Hat Must Be Vanquished.”
I keep my garbage can tucked away in a vintage cabinet. However, no one ever knows where it is so I made this little sign out of cardboard, papier-mâché, beads, and foam sticker letters, painted bronze. Not my best work but at least you’ll know where the trash is now.
Another thing I crafted over the weekend: a magnetic coffee filter holder. It was plain red when I bought it, so I added magnets on the back and embellished it with some decoupage and (badly) painted script.
I made my bird friends a little house to match mine. And I used old earrings for the flowers/planters.
