UPSHIFT LORE RAMBLINGS - THE MULTIVERSE
(okay so i may start this series of posts where i yap about upshift's lore instead of making full ass infographics or something)
upshift is set in a multiverse, i think you already got that from the title. anyways uhhhh the main canon, plot, and prime things are in this little universe called jertindliuss-meta, got it? it's part of this universe family called the jertindliuss group. why are they in a group you may ask? what even is a jertindliuss? okay first off its because all their earths share a very interesting trait... cars affect the world a BIT too much, and second of all, jertindliuss is a completely made-up word and i might have to change that. for example: in jertindliuss-meta cars are cheaper and are in higher numbers because of access to more minerals and automotive materials via asteroid mining and lower gas car demand. in jertindliuss-deafwind, the world turns to anarchy after its mazda furai was stolen into jertindliuss-meta with no technology to get it back or traverse the multiverse
wait speaking of jertindliuss-deafwind, i might have to explain time
so each universe has an age, k? and it determines what day or year its present day is. this means there are younger universes and older universes and there could be universes that are in the year 2000 and 2100; but even if you traverse between them, they're still in the present day and you're not altering the past or the future, it's like talking to a 40 year old and a 10 year old, they're of different stages in life and are of varying ages, but exist within the same timeframe
using this time logic, i can explain how torque and daniel stole the mazda furai without altering the past or the future. let's say jertindliuss-meta was made 13,787,000,029 years ago; its present day would be in 2037. jertindliuss-deafwind would be made 13,787,000,000 years ago, 29 years after jertindliuss-meta was created; that means it would be 29 years in the past, in 2008. meta's and deafwind's present days are 2037 and 2008. think of it like this
when torque and daniel steal the mazda furai, they don't change the future because it's not their timeline they're rewriting and there's no future for them to rewrite and make paradoxes; stealing the mazda furai from deafwind to meta is like stealing money from one house and bringing it into yours. note: the mazda furai native to jertindliuss-meta is still destroyed, torque and daniel only brought the one native to deafwind to meta. so now it's like stealing money from one house and bringing it into your house because your original money was burnt long ago
why the fuck is this so deep for a story that is, at the end of the day, about cars???
