writing a self-centered narcissist character that doesnt evolve throughout the story, but instead gets worse and worse and accidentally gassed up until the ending, where he unknowingly sacrifices himself to save the world because he thinks he'll come out of it unscathed because of how strong he is #whatdowethink he goes along with another sidekick (to him) character throughout the story that starts as a people pleaser and evolves into realising he doesnt need to do that anymore (im working in a trans allegory for this that i think fits very well) the ending is supposed to be a full inverse of their characters at the start, the big macho macho selfish guy sacrifices himself for everyone else out of hubris, while the people pleaser "trample on me" guy does something to save himself and lets someone else die for him
