I thought I would approach a subject similar to white-washing.

Heterosexist yaoi couples.

It’s like that almost ALL the time. 

Why are yaoi fangirls ALWAYS making up heterosexist couples for their stories? I mean , gay couples are two guys , so why do you feel the need to make one as “FEMININE” as possible and the other as “masculine” as possible as if there couldn’t be any other setup for relationships. You clearly are making one of the two “the girl” and the other “the guy” . Not only is it a cliché as OLD as the world but it’s a tiny bit offensive too.

And I’m not talking about just one of the two being a tiny little bit flamboyant there. I’m saying it’s more of a “take a stereotypical poor fragile girl , remove boobs , add penis , call it a guy” kind of thing.

I realise I am not the target audience when it comes to yaoi. But encouraging and enabling that kind of crap only reinforces the idea (especially for people who DEVOUR yaoi mangas and fan-stories) that gay couples are ALWAYS and ONLY consisting of a permanent flaming weak bottom and an overly-agressive asshole top. 

So yeah , a little originality and a little research into what gay couples are and aren’t would be nice. Cause to me the yaoi representation of gay people kind of reminds me of crap like black-face and ching-chong-asian stereotypes.

Okay so, here’s the story. For the past few years some friends of mine made a habit of getting me one of those “Men of the Hawaiian Islands” calendars every time they visited Hawaii (one of them had a brother who worked there so she went often, I ended up with several of these). I hung them up at work and we’d giggle a lot at how ridiculous they were, all these oiled up sweaty hairless dudes with weird faces trying to play sexy.

Cut to a few weeks ago and suddenly two of them are like “hey we thought of an idea for you” and we ended up having a long conversation about calendars and some challenges were thrown around. And I ended up agreeing to do a naughty Sherlock calendar. But not a legit trying-to-be-sexy calendar. They all had to be glistening, look slightly uncomfortable, and have totally OOC bangin bodies.

I did my best and this is what happened. I hope you enjoy~

A reminder that Eren Jaeger killed three people when he was ten years old all for kidnapping a girl whom which he had never even met before. It’s not only the fact that he didn’t just try to save her, he went to murder her kidnappers, because according to him if you fight you live. That speaks a lot for his character, especially since this is just a ten year old boy who lives a comfortable lifestyle and has absolutely no past traumas who goes out and does this. Eren’s point of view on life is incredibly black and white there is good and evil and for good to survive you have to fight and eradicate evil, even as a child he felt that which is probably why he didn’t even hesitate to kill those men, they were evil to him, and it’s odd that now in the show and manga he’s being met with dilemmas because there is a grey area that he can’t classify or is having trouble understanding, like Erwin’s sacrifice of soldiers to the titans or the purposes of the human Titans. Eren’s sense of purpose has always been to eradicate evil (kill the titans) and he’s such an intense character I actually really hate to see the fandom cutting down his intensity and drive to make him more cutesy or preferable in their eyes when he’s so great already.

I always thought he was a little psycho and naturally violent, specially from that episode onwards. I know people like that, with a extremely strong sense of good and wrong, that will go ridiculous lengths to bring their justice and admit no discussion. And that's people you want to stay away from because they are great when they're on your side but awful when you have to confront them. Just look at his reaction at not everybody wanting to join the Recon Corps.

Great character? Yes. Model role/hero? I think not.
