Hi! 😁 I was wondering whether we could have some scenes of the twins at the circus... I am curious to see how you understand and portray their relationship. Was it good? Was it bad? Was Jerome "born bad" or was it all Jeremiah's fault? A bit of both? Sorry if this is too vague hahaha 😘🙌
Warnings: pretty much nothing, some cute moments between the twins, some hints at angst? Swearing (just once, from my narration rip)
“Jerome!”, Jeremiah rushed around the corner into their shared bedroom in their trailer. He was holding a book.
Jerome glanced up from the comic book he was scanning beforehand, and lazily regarded his twin. “Mhm?”
Jeremiah placed the book in front of Jerome, and pointed to a picture.
Disregarding the comic, and placing it to the side, Jerome squinted at the image. “What is that?”
“That- is the Statue of Liberty,” Jeremiah grinned, “we’re gonna go see it one day!”
Jerome grinned back at his twin. His smile faltered for a moment. “What will mom think?”
Both of the twins hesitated. Of course they had mentioned going places and their dreams for the future to their mother before.
Their mom didn’t encourage their hopefullness. After hearing about their wishes, she would probably grunt and tug her poor suitor for the night into her trailer bedroom.
Jeremiah nodded thoughtfully, “how about we surprise her?”
The smile returned to both their faces as they laughed together. They were bright. Those twins depended on each other because they needed some light in the dark.
“Jerome?”, Jeremiah whispered, he caught Jerome sneaking out a trailer window. “What’re you doing?”
Jeremiah didn’t ask that question in an accusing manner, it was more silly.
Like a, ‘why are you trying to squeeze out that tiny window instead of just walking out the door?’.
Jerome pouted, “I wanted to go watch the show, and mom was napping next to the door”
Jeremiah laughed, and then quieted himself to soft giggles. “How many times have we just walked past her, without waking her up?”
“A lot”, Jerome deadpanned. The twins had a shitty parent. That didn’t stop them from making the most of their situation though.
Let’s remember, Jerome was half out the window when Jeremiah caught him. He remembered, when he fell out the window.
Both twins gasped, out of surprise, then started laughing so hard that tears spring to their eyes.
Jeremiah tip toed past his mother to the door, then ran out to find Jerome. He shined a flashlight on his brother.
Jerome laid face first on the ground, gasping for air after laughing so hard.
“Next time”, Jeremiah sat down next to his brother, grinning, “just use the door”.
That sent them both into laughing fits again, while they enjoyed each other’s company.
Hey anon, I hope this is what u were looking for lmao. I made it pretty clear in the scenes, but I don’t think the twins had a bad relationship when they were younger. I honestly just think they were in a pretty crap situation, which makes people desperate to escape. So that might have been why things turned out the way they did later on. Idk I thought they probably relied on each other during their childhood, because they couldn’t really rely on their mother, yanno? And I don’t think either of them were at fault in the end if that makes sense? They did some bad things when they got older, but I get the feeling Jerome was driven mad because of his awful situation after Jeremiah left. And Jeremiah left because he knew he had to leave to be something when he got older. Wow i kinda went off in this section XD, well I hope y’all enjoyed!
