I think Jon Kent becomes increasingly more interesting when you stop looking at him as a mini version of his father and instead a mini version of Kara who’s trying his best to be a mini version of Superman instead.

Both Kara and Jon spent a good chunk of their life off planet

Both Kara and Jon try to cope with extreme lost (Kara being her planet, and Jon being his childhood)

Both Kara and Jon have seen 1st hand the pain a krypton can do when not in check (Kara being herself and Jon being Ultra-man.)

Both Kara and Jon have weird age stuff going on

Both Kara and Jon felt different from the other members of the family (but overwhelmingly this just seems to be a very common theme for the super family)

Both Kara and Jon used unhealthy coping mechanisms (Jon deals with obsessive tendencies, he literally uses Jay as his only source of stability!! Kara had a drinking problem.)

Both Kara and Jon have been described as unstable based on their emotions.

i get that some people feel like Timbern is forced but personally I love the idea of this kid who couldn’t be out in highschool and was secretly in love with his best friend finally getting to be w/him. especially after Tim left and Bernard joined a pain cult (don’t you dare call him boring he literally joined a pain cult???). his original characterization has been ignored at times, but also people change and I think that Bernard had to act in a certain way to maintain this image of the straight teenage boy. and for Tim, i think a civilian relationship honestly makes a lot of sense (tho i do love Steph and kon respectively). anyways im rambling
