Things that are wrong with Solas’s face that get left out of fanart
Small, droopy, deep set, heavy lidded eyes. This is not just because he is an old man, he is not #blessed in the eye shape department. He would have a hell of a time doing winged liner. He’d be better off sticking with mascara and a light shadow because he DOES have some very lush lashes.
Beneath those droopy eyes, you will find wrinkles and eye bags. Dark circles. For someone who sleeps so much, he sure LOOKS like he’s a stressed out motherfucker burning the veil fire at both ends.
Above the droopy eyes, you will find generally shapely but UNDENIABLY unkempt ginger eyebrows. This man does not pluck, nor does he comb. Generally it seems safe to assume that he doesn’t think about the tiny amount of hair left to him in the head region, which is a shame.
Laugh lines, I suppose you would call these? Though I can’t imagine how he got them. They are there. They are prominent. He is not in his twenties.
Just the general roughness of his skin texture. It’s not all cute freckles, some of it is just what skin looks like as one gets older. It’s not blotchy per se, but it’s not uniform airbrushed either.
THAT ROUGH PATCHY KINDA SCALY LOOKING TEXTURE IN THE HOLLOWS OF HE CHEEKS. AND ALSO ALONG HIS JAW AND DOWN HIS NECK. WHAT IS IT? WHY IS IT THERE? IS IT SCARRING? DOES HE HAVE A SKIN CONDITION? Also worth mentioning, parts of his skin look a little stretched/dried out near his temples.
POCK MARKS. Admittedly these are subtle, but they’re there, dotting the apples of his cheeks.
Looks weird from a ¾ angle. Seriously, big prominent cheekbones + a narrow albeit squared off jaw + pointed chin = EGG. EEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGGG. This is especially true from a lower angle and becomes truly unsettling when he smiles.
Proportionally upsetting. The juxtaposition of his tiny eyes with his huge bald forehead and very long face, long nose, and full lips makes the whole picture a little off-kilter. I often notice his eyes being made larger and his face shorter or more square in fan art. Not sure if this is unconscious or not.
Just age and wear and tear in general. Beginning of jowls, some bumps and stuff here and there.
