Senshi (Dungeon Meshi)

Mr. Ant Tenna (Deltarune)
Tenna art by @9Aaaalt29 on twt
āAnd if youāll give me 40% of the MOST POPULAR VOTE, Iāll give you my SPECIAL REWARD... A yearās supply of NON-GLOOBY SLIME!!! Never or BARELY used!!!ā Tenna concluded his speech with a huge smile, jetting his hands up in double peace signs.
The crowd roared in confused enthusiasm as Tenna gave a gracious flurry of low-FPS bows, pausing only for the occasional stink-nose at his audience plants who werenāt throwing enough 3D roses.
Eventually, the room fell silent. It was Senshiās turn to speak.
He puffed out his chest, took a long, sweeping look over the audience⦠and shook his head.
āI can see not all of you are eating properly.ā
The crowd murmured with embarrassment.
āI donāt know who needs to hear this, but itās time to take the turkey out of your icebox. I have seen the ingenious technology with which your people store food... and I have also seen the waste which results from such convenience.
āThe food you take had a life. Beasts grew fat on the grass of the field, plants grew from the sunās rays, and mushrooms grew from minerals in the cracks of caves. And yet, it sits in your iceboxes, collecting moisture until it perishes.
āEat what is given to you. Because its life will make you stronger, too.ā
Without another word, Senshi left his podium and stepped away from the stage. The crowd murmured in confusion. āIs he really like that?ā somebody said. āI only remember reblogging the photosets of him tripping and showing ass.ā

Back in the Green Room, Tenna wrung his antennas nervously.
āY-y-you think they liked me!? They HAD to!! I mean, I donāt know what Asgore was thinking, getting that weird haircut and running that food waste campaign, but⦠YOU thought I did good, didnāt you, Kris?ā
Laios nodded aggressively, a streak of blue face paint peeling from his forehead.
āYou did AMAZING, Tenna! By the way, now that weāve seen all your insider campaign secrets, do you have any more videos of Susie? Especially her tail... If I could get a look at that, I could finally tell if sheās a dinosaur or --ā
THWACK. Fake antlers butted Laiosās head.
āLAIOS?? Werenāt we dressed up to help SENSHI???ā Marcille hissed, gesturing awkwardly with her hooves.
Suddenly, Tenna turned to the two adventurers.
āHey, WAIT a second. SOMETHINGās not right here...ā
Laios and Marcille held their breath.
āWhere the heck are my POINTS!?ā
Just then, the door opened. Chilchuck took one step into the room, whistling and holding a large bag.
Everyone turned to him.
Chilchuck paused, took a step backwards, and closed the door.
āCHILCHUCK!!!ā yelled Tenna.
āHow come Chilchuck got to stay Chilchuck!?ā yelled Marcille at the same time.

Meanwhile, in outer space somewhere, some guy was making out with a rock.
And speaking of Sophia Tolstoy, her diaries are just so depressing.Ā
āI am to gratify his pleasure and nurse his child, I am a piece of household furniture, I am a woman. I try to suppress all human feelings. When the machine is working properly it heats the milk, knits a blanket, makes little requests and bustles about trying not to think [ā¦].ā
She wrote this when she was 19, one year into her marriage to Leo and as she was pregnant with the first of his 13 children.
A few years later, when she was 25 or so:
āI am so often alone with my thoughts that the need to write in my diary comes quite naturally ⦠Now I am well again and not pregnantāit terrifies me how often I have been in that condition. He said that for him being young meant āI can achieve anythingā. For me [ā¦] reason tells me that there is nothing I either want or can do beyond nursing, eating, drinking, sleeping, and loving and caring for my husband and babies, all of which I know is happiness of a kind, but why do I feel so woeful all the time, and weep as I did yesterday? I am writing this now with the pleasantly exciting sense that nobody will ever read it, so I can be quite frank with myself [ā¦].ā
During her 12th pregnancy she wrote about taking scalding baths and jumping from high pieces of furniture to try and miscarry.Ā And at one point while reading her husbandās diary (which he told her to read) she found the sentence āThere is no such thing as love, only the physical need for intercourse and the practical need for a life companion.ā In her own diary she wrote āThey ebb and flow like waves, these times when I realise how lonely I am and want only to cryā¦ā
A few years before her husbandās death, she published a cycle of prose poems titledĀ āGroansā, under the pseudonymĀ āA Tired Womanā.
the most depressing quote from her diaries:
āI have served a genius for almost forty years. Hundreds of times I have felt my intellectual energy stir within me and all sorts of desires - a longing for education, a love of music and the arts⦠And time and again I have crushed and smothered these longings⦠Everyone asks, āBut why should a worthless woman like you need an intellectual or artistic life?ā To this question I can only reply: āI donāt know, but eternally suppressing it to serve a genius is a great misfortune.ā

So this is not a plea for money. This is something that surprised me, and chatting with people on discord, they were unaware of as well.
Discovered last year I couldnāt look at my 2015 MacBook Air without it triggering nausea and migraines, and figured the screen died. Have been getting by on my phone, but concluded I really need a laptop again.
Saved up, realised I could afford a brand new MacBook Neo, and got one.
-And I couldnāt spend more than five minutes looking at the screen without massive eye strain, nausea, vertigo, and if I pushed it, I-need-to-lie-down-in-a-dark-room-for-hours migraines.
Looking up MacBook and Eyestrain explained what is going on. The liquid retina displays that Apple currently has uses Pulse Width Modulation or PWM. In order to give the screens a deeper depth of colour and contrast, PWM flickers between several hundred to thousand times a second.
And there is currently no way to turn it off. There are settings and apps to reduce it, but there is no way to stop the screen from flickering. Checked Apple forums, called Apple Support, and the time I could look at the screen kept shrinking. Got the laptop Tuesday, returned it Friday, today is Sunday and Iām still dealing with a vertigo migraine.
For MacBooks, it seems to vary on the computer model and the software it uses. In retrospect, the issue with my MacBook Air started after a major software update.
And itās not just an Apple thing. Current Windows and Android screens do the same thing. Thereās even a Reddit for people who are sensitive to PWM flickers to help find computers and screens that wonāt trigger eyestrain and headaches.
So, yeah. This week has been a learning experience. But for those who are prone to headaches and migraines, this may be something to be aware of, cause I was not.

jkr is literally posting upskirt photos to her social media. when will it finally get through to harry potter fans that their support makes her feel confident and correct enough to do things like this
If the holocaust denialism SOMEHOW wasn't enough for you to shut up about your favourite kids book as an adult; JK Rowling just committed a sex crime IRL against a transgender woman.
When do we start to care.
I will say my problem with young women dating older men is not that I think 20 year olds can't consent or whatever, it's because it's illogical and reminiscent of a world we should have left behind at this point if we actually see men and women as equals. This isn't even my opinion it's a literal fact- the manosphere is freaking out over the decline of "trophy wife" marriages (young woman, wealthy older man) which happened because once women have financial independence they can actually prioritize themselves properly. In fact a lot of "gender wars" stuff online is just men having to face the fact women can choose now lol. If we skip 100 years in the future and there's 50/50 old woman young man and old man young woman age gap couple frequency I would care less. And it's totally possible that can happen if we are truly seen as equals. Just not the case right now.
Also in these marriages both people end up resenting each other anyway--the woman feels like her youth was wasted and the man knows she isn't in love with him. That's why you don't see 40+ year old women talking about the joys of being a tradwife, it's always a 19 year old with an old man.
That's #mytruth anyway...and I feel like it's not often brought up in these conversations. Everyone is primarily focused on consent and life experience when defending or denouncing these sorts of relationships I feel and kind of missing the larger picture. Straight up I will shame you for voluntarily replicating conditions that made every generation of women mentally insane idc if it's lana del rey coquette aesthetic
So if you split open a giant peach and thereās a magic baby inside that you are then forced to raise do you still eat the peach or would that be too awkward
My first question about a peach that big would be is it radioactive and my second question would be is it from Alaska and if the answer to either of those questions is yes I donāt think Iād wanna eat it
I donāt think youāre supposed to eat peach pits though? Like theyāre pretty poisonous.
Okay.
Do you still want to eat the peach after a magic baby comes out of it?
Yes
No
Quick question. Are there like. Amniotic fluids
The legend of Momotaro didnāt specify
You found the peach floating down the river if that affects anything
Anyway here is my take:
I think trying to make a movie out of The Odyssey (not the story of Odysseus, but The Odyssey as in the poem) is a bit of a doomed endeavour as the structure of The Odyssey simply does not jive with the structure of the Hollywood movie
I think you COULD make a good movie out of the odyssey but would need to engage w the fact that it's a work which veers back and forth between fantasy and realism; that it's a story told out of chronogical order; and also that it is a Trickster Hero story first and foremost. It is perhaps best done as a comedy but with the occasional shocking swerve into graphic violence.
Here are my opinions:
The Odyssey should be a musical but āļøonly some of the time. When Odysseus is narrating? Musical. Penelope and Telemachus on Ithaca? š āāļø
Odysseus can break the fourth wall during the parts where he's narrating.
Movie opens with Odysseus inside Charybdis, whirling around and around clinging to a tiny raft and screaming. *Freeze frame* yeah, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got here.
In essence am I implying it should be tonally similar to the emperor's new groove but with ultra violence? Perhaps
#but more to the point of the original post: i wish moviegoing audiences were more skeptical of the ability of Hollywood#to adapt any and everything#like. i still think about how jeff smith's bone has floated around in development hell over several different iterations for DECADES#and like. HONESTLY? good. it doesnt need to be anything other than a comic.
this is a bit tangential but. yeah. it is straight up hollywood propaganda i think. everything must eventually become a hollywood movie. books must become hollywood movies. comics must become hollywood movies. successful movies from other countries must become hollywood movies. & ur mainstream hollywood movie is a pretty narrow category of what a movie can be.
