I just want to share something from our trip last month in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This woman rowed our boat for almost 2 hours. I don’t know how long she’s been doing this for a living, but she looks old. A paddle was provided for each tourist if someone wants to try rowing. We tried, just for photo ops and for the sake of experiencing doing it just like what any other tourist would do. After a few minutes, we got tired. We, 4 young women, got tired after a few minutes of rowing. I eventually thought of her. Considering her age, rowing for almost 2 hours nonstop every day (and we don’t know how many times every day) must be very exhausting.

I tried helping her throughout our trip. And as you can see, I took her photos because I want to be reminded of a strong woman I met during that trip. I’m glad that when she saw that my camera is pointed at her, she smiled genuinely.

When we reached our destination, a new batch of tourists is waiting to be toured. Another almost 2 hours of rowing for this strong woman, but she does it with a smile on her face for her passengers. ❤️
