This is an ask blog for Rocky and Grace from Project Hail Mary. I'll mostly be going by book canon, with some movie interpretations sprinkled in too, and of course my own headcanons.

Rules: None, go crazy go stupid, I just wont answer any asks I dont feel like answering. I wont ever answer asks with bigotry or unrelated to the blog though so consider those rules if youd like.

AU: In this universe, with the access to Graces human tech, the extremely clever Eridians managed to make a way for Erid to communicate with Earth at insanely fast speeds. Its like dial up internet, slow and laggy maybe, but from an entire different solar system so thats impressive as fuck.

They are not canonically using a tumblr blog. For them, its a website forum for anyone on earth or Erid to ask questions for Grace and Rocky to answer. It was intended to be set up for scientific purposes, but got heavy traffic from people with little to no answer in science. Now its basically abandoned, Grace and Rocky going through official channels to answer scientific queries instead, but the website is still up and running and the duo enjoy interacting with it with the few people who still use it.

Other Rocky or Grace roleplay blogs are not cannon on this blog, no muliverse shenanigans. Sorry.

Other canon characters may or may not be welcome, depending on if that specific ask aligns with my version of the story.

OCs are welcome and encoraged, be they Eridian or human! However if they are written to have a past with Grace or Rocky that doesnt fit my version of their past, I may have to ignore the ask. sorry.

Ah, well...Unfortunately, no. Im so sorry. If...If its any comfort, she died peacefully. I, um, I think. I was the only one who woke up, both her and Yào had already... I made an official report. You can probobly find it somwhere, if you ask the right people. Despite Lokken and I's...disagreements, im upset they never told her. I geuss now that the projects over info has to go through official channels. Annoying

No, sadly not. She and Yào both died during the coma, neither of them got to, um, commit suicide. Sorry, this topic is really upsetting for me. I, uh, still have the herion to remember her by. No idea if this stuff goes bad but ive been too intimidated to use it

It expires within 6 years of manufacture. Maybe you can commence testing on some Eridians to use it, and keep the needles and vials(? idk whether it was in fluid or powder form, Stratt won't answer my emails) as memoriam or something.

Speaking of Stratt not answering my emails, she's not answering Norah's either, which is why I ended up asking you about specialist Ilyukhina. Sorry about that (⁠٥⁠↼⁠_⁠↼⁠)

Haha dont worry im used to it. Happend all the time back on Stratts Vat. Somone couldnt get to her theyd come to me. Lightyears away and I'm still easier to contact, haha!

As for the drugs, deffidently gone bad then. I might offer them to the scientists, but, I dont think id get it back and its part of my memorial shrine. They can wait to learn about hard drugs till some other human shows up, I think. Also why did you know the experation date off the top of your head

I did paramedic volunteer work while I was still in grad school, you learn a lot of expiry dates. I also know off the top of my head that paracetamol has an LD-50 of 12 grams.

You are much easier to contact than Stratt. I don't think she knows her email password.

query 🎤 rocky is your Question thing particulate or nomative, because the translator seems to think it's nomative, but it could also very much be particulate and added as another word meaning "question"

ALSO . do you also use confirmarive markers i.e. "isn't it" or exclaimative markers that don't really come through in the translation because your language is entirely tonal or nah

Actually, the question clause was just ment for Grace! Our language is much less rule based and structured than humans are, Eridians just sort of...understand eachother. Thats why we only have one language, too! We cant fully acess eachothers thoughts or anything unless actively in a Thrum, but any time one Eridian talks with another there is a faint connection made. So we can communicate information in a more vague, informationally dense way. But Grace cant make this connection with us! He cant even understand our tones! In fact, he cant even hear some of the octives that communicate certian tones. For example, most of my crying is out of his range of hearing, and so is Adrians laughter.

Now that we've gotten better at translations I dont really need to speak like that anymore, but somtimes it still helps when communication is limited. Grace translates everything I say onto these posts because the dumbass thinking machines type buttons are too small for my hands.

Anyway, point is, Eridian language is more "vibes based" as Grace would put it, and somtimes we have to talk to Grace the same way we would a baby who cant make thrum connections yet.
