Brackets - homepage. I struggled a lot with this and I felt that I didn’t understand what I was doing - o matter how many tutorials I watched on coding and brackets. I know this isn’t an exact replica of my Xd homepage, but it was the best I could manage.

Reflection
Honestly, my six weeks of work were a bit shit. I started off v e r y rocky, and wasn’t inspired enough to create anything in my own style for a long time. research fixed this though, and I was able to make the brochure just in time. However, if i had done this research earlier, particularly on artist models, I would have gotten to this point a lot sooner, and would have had time to develop my collages and spreads
Rationale
My brochure was made on the op-shops around Cuba street. I focused on 3 for my main double-page spreads; Thrift, Emporium and Hunters & Collectors, and matched each collage styles to the ambience of each store. The 3 elements I focused on were Location, clothing styles and a historical element which shows time eras or specific places the clothes are from. For my ‘Arts and Culture’, ‘Discover Wellington’ and cover and back pagers, I stuck to a colour scheme of red, white and black, as inspired by artists such as Lissitzky or Reid. Something I struggled with was finding my own style again and being able to create with that. Because of this I restarted my project when realistically I didn’t have enough time, hence the undeveloped processes. This is something I would like to improve on for next time.
Week 6
good god, save me. I restarted my brochure to suit a style i liked more. please dont hurt me.
Week 5
made maps
Layout of Cuba St Op-Shops
A minimalist approach to the map, but it is easy to follow despite having no landmarks
Collage on Thrift
again, this collage focuses on the style of the store. the celebrities give you an inkling of what clothes are sold but we cant use photos like these in the collages
Week 4
continued research on places. decided on the key - price, style, student discount researched paragraph styles/placements further researched artist models such Jamie Reid (Sex Pistols), Terry Jones (i-D Magazine, Monty Python), El Lissitzky (Red Wedge) and David Carson (Ray-Gun Magazine)
Interim Week 3
I used this booklet to practice layouts. I need to develop my style and research artists, paragraph styles/layouts and negative space
Collage on Thrift
Minimalist Emporium Collage
Week 2
- decided on subject - op-shopping on cuba - did research on my places - style, price range, student discounts, range of mens and womens wear and any outstanding factors eg Hunters and collectors have an art gallery upstairs. - started on a few collages to reflect these styles
Lab 1 exercise - layouts of double-page spreads. I learnt about images in relation to text / integrating images and text. This helped me understand basic layout structure
