True theology recognizes that neither faith nor love, neither wisdom nor dependence, is the foundation on which the Christian life rests; that foundation is God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and that unity which is present in life with God and Christ and neighbor comes from Him and from Him alone.
H. Richard Niebuhr (via faithful-forever)
It has always struck me as funny that we, as Christians, prioritize what is most important in our lives. It always begins with God being the foremost important thing, then we list other things that fall after Him, such as sports or school or friends. But what we aren’t realizing is that by doing this, it is very much like crossing God off our to-do list and then moving on to the next most important thing. We, instead of listing what is most important to us and creating for ourselves a routine to follow, need to understand that He is so much more than the first thing on our list of things to do. We need to let everything we do be done with Christ central. Instead of saying “God first, then school, then friends, then sports,” we need to be saying “God and school, God and friends, God and sports.” He is in every compartment and category of our lives. Who are we to limit where we will and will not allow Him?
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus…” -Colossians 3:17
Let’s challenge ourselves to keep Him at the center of our lives, instead of checking Him off our daily to-do list.

We don’t get to define God. He already exists. He’s not open to interpretation, He’s stated exactly who He is.

For if the stars, which seem so very bright at night, lose their brilliance in the sight of the sun, what do we think will happen even to the rarest innocence of man when it is compared with God’s purity?

"Never give up on a dream because of the amount of time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyways." When I first started debate, I would never have imagined that I would have the opportunity to compete at Nationals in policy. I know God has His plans, but I didn't think this would be part of it. Though we didn't break, I think I've learned more in one week than I have in the past 3 years. And for that, I am so grateful.
Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

Thriving in community.
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:13-14
We can see from this verse in Colossians that Christ is so loving and so good to us, and calls us to be just like that to the people we are surrounded by. Not everyone you come across will always be the absolute nicest, kindest, warm-hearted person - but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t forgive them and encourage them. By being in a community and meeting with like-minded believers, our faith will grow deeper in Christ because we can discuss, worship, and encourage each other. The bible is full of scriptures talking about how wonderful it is to be in the presence of like-minded people.
No matter the community you are in (at school, work, sports, or gathered with like-minded believers and friends), you have an opportunity to spur on others towards Christ by showing them the same love that Christ has for us. But it is important to gather with like-minded believers so that you yourself can be spurred on towards a better relationship with God. We, as believers, need to be reaching out to people who don’t know Christ - and remembering that amongst that, we also need to be meeting with people who has the same worldview and mindset as us.
