“Mhm,” Opal softly mumbled with a warm smile upon her lips, “In fact, your entire family have told me that you should quit your job so you can stay at home with me.” She teased with a grin, knowing that leaving his job would be the absolute last thing in the world that he would do. She grumbled lightly at his words, her eyes briefly fluttering shut as she felt his thumb brush her cheek. With Graham’s long and frequent shifts, missing each other had become the norm for the two of them, but it only made their reunion just that little bit more anticipated. Unwillingly, her hands slipped from their grip and returned to her side as she made her way to the wardrobe, her fingers idly flicking through her clothes. “I spoke to her a couple days ago- she’s still with her pack. Fenrir is still lurking around, even though she won’t admit it to me. It’s not like I can do anything about it anyway since I’m practically a million miles away and- having a guy who is known as the wolf eater hanging around your pack is totally normal, right?” Opal finally stopped herself from rambling with a heavy sigh, her gaze staring into her closet.
Graham grinned at the tease that left his love's lips. Oh what he wouldn't give to do just that, but he loved his work and the thought of living off of his families money, didn't sit right with him. He had to earn his place in the world. & that meant long, frequent EMT shifts. Where he missed the love of his life. It sucked more than he let on. As she stepped away from him, he ran his hand down her back, before going over to his side of the room, rummaging through the lower drawers to find some decent clothes. "I always thought that guy had a thing for her though right? Like didn't they have this weird understanding?" He glanced bacl at her as he pulled on boxers, and a regular pair of pants. "I mean he was weird to me too, don't get me wrong, but Roxanne likes him. I get the weird feeling that he doesn't eat wolves anymore, Ope's, & that's cause if your sister." He pulled on a shirt before moving to her side and kissing the top of her head. "I know you worry though. Do you want me to send some EMT buddies to look around his campsite or something?"
opal-gunner:
"She also said,” Opal began to speak as she stood from the bed, walking to to the doorway to meet him, her arms moving to wrap around his neck. “Welcome home from your crazy long shift.” She spoke with a grin before stretching upwards to place a kiss upon his lips. “Okay the kiss was from me, not your mom.” She chuckled, her gaze rising upwards to meet his.
"Did she now? Did she also say that I work entirely too much?" The tall man grinned as he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to his chest. "Glad to know the kiss was from you at least, and I missed you too, love." He rested his forehead against her own with a sigh, brushing his thumb over her cheek. He wanted to express how he felt a bit more, but at this moment, really couldn’t, especially since he was just wearing a towel and they were going to leave soon for his parent’s place. & if they were late, Jon would never let them hear the end of it. "Heard from Ruby lately?"
opal-gunner:
Was it wrong of Opal to still be wearing her sweats and one of Graham’s old shirts? Perhaps, but even after all the changes in the past year, there were still some old habits she couldn’t shake. The house was quiet, except from the distant sound of the trickling of the shower where Graham currently was. She had grown accustomed to the busy and constantly household of Graham’s family, but sometimes silence was the simplest of pleasures she could rarely indulge in now. “So, that was your mom on the phone,” Opal called as she clambered onto the messy bed, “She wants us to come over for dinner later on.”
Graham was climbing out of the shower after washing the grime from the night before off his body. He loved his job, but sometimes, it made him want to just sleep for a little while. Wrapping a towel around his waist, he peaked his head out of the bathroom, with a grin. "Oh? Did she say anything else?" He asked, leaning against the door frame with a grin.

She caught his whisper, causing her to smile to herself as she allowed him to pull her towards his room. “Have you ever… Not saved someone before? I don’t mean on purpose or anything like that- I just mean like- Has anyone ever died while you were trying to help them?” Opal found herself wondering out loud, realising that she’d never really asked him much about his job. She basically just accepted it, shrugged and moved on. But she knew it must be a heavy weight for him to carry on his shoulders, especially when things went wrong and he never really talked about it much. Or at all, really.
"Hm, I miss mum hugs." The words airily slipped from her mouth before she realised what she had said, hoping that Graham wasn’t paying total attention to her as she climbed up onto the bed. "I don’t think even you could have calmed me down. It was like a panic coma." Opal joked lightly, a smile on her lips as she lay down, wriggling closer to him. "Define fun… Because by this town’s rules, fun is someone dying." She sarcastically pointed out, chuckling quietly. "But no… Nope, nothing fun. I’ve just been trying to get all my essays written before you get home so I don’t have to do them when you’re here."
"Quite a few times." The weight of not saving someone always hit his chest hard, but he did what he could do, he saved as many lives as he could but sometimes. Sometimes death got there first. Graham didn’t really like talking about it, it always seemed to bring people around him down, he knew Opal was different though. She understood him for one. And two…it wouldn’t bother her if he talked about work. Running a hand down her shoulders gently he nodded. "More times then I like to count. I try to remember the ones I have saved though. You stay sane that way."
Graham caught those words as she climbed onto his bed, and reached for her, brushing her brown curls out of her eyes. His heart thumped in his chest, he hoped he could sooth her somehow. “Well soon enough I know you’ll get all kinds of hugs from the Blackwood Clan.” He gave her a smile before relaxing, arm draped around her lightly. “I would have tried at least.” He chuckled once more before stretching a bit, his long limbs splayed on the bed. “Dying isn’t fun, so…no fun at all. Did you finish your essays?” He asked a wicked twinkle entering his eyes. “Because if so that means…you’re free for a little while and can do what ever you want. So, what do you want, Opal?”
beguile, v. - It’s when you walk around the apartment in my boxers when you don’t know I’m awake. And then that grin, when you do know I’m awake. You spend so much time in the morning making sure every hair is in place. But I have to tell you: I like it most like this, haphazard, sleep-strewn, disarrayed.

The best kiss is the one that has been exchanged a thousand times between the eyes before it reaches the lips.

I’ll make your bones shake, the sweat we take off hearts still battered and worn. Be my shelter and I’ll be your storm.
And we’ll show the fire, Yeah, we’ll show the fire how to burn.
