Classical Greece Comedy Vs Classical Greece Tragedy
How unequivocally evil do you have to be in order to be remembered in History solely as "Evil" ?
I mean, not "evil person" or "evil man" just Evil, like that, the concept of Evil devoid of a person.
I admire the dedication of the man to become the ultimate Evil of history
Oh man, i can't believe today at my job a member of the Italian Police openly lied to me in order to violate those same laws he swore to protect.
It seems so long ago has passed since yesterday, the last time a member of the Italian Police openly lied to me in order to violate those same laws he swore to protect.
I'm confident It won't happen ever again.
If people were confronted with the relentless march of time and the ineluttable truth of their mortality more ofter we would live in a much better world
How early Archaic Athenian mfs would stare at the local paesants when they weren't happy to give them 90% of their harvests in exchange for not being beaten to death with rocks.
I feel a bit concerned about the prevalent idea that Dionysos was the God of wine and party and not Dionysos the Ghost of Old Nights who lurks in the darkness of our rational minds.
Smartass Bully Guy from the rich neighborhood gets their ass handed at their own smartass game by Local Tough Guy who has a Richer Friend.
Roman brothel tokens.
Number X piloting the man like an aeroplane
"Apparently the Jupiter of Rome is not only the Best, but also the Greatest".
Iuppiter Optimus Maximus
Imagine finding the most ancient evidence of written Latin language on God's Earth and it's just:
Handman made this for Numberman
Better yet, imagine being some of the richest and most influential people of the entire Latium Vetus area, precursors of Rome, and being called Handman and Numberman.
On a note about this post, i find it immensely funny how strinking is the difference between the names of Etruscan and Latin people, literally on two sides of a very crossable and oftentimes crossed river.
In the Etruscan area we have for example divisions between specifically masculine or feminine names, while in Latium we don't. We do have proper Aristocratic names and surnames, IE Family Names, while Latin speaking people did not and will not in the future.
Latin Family Names will forever be, even in the heights of the Imperium just notable characteristic of the people, or perhaps the first of them. The Gens Flavia was so called because the were Flavi (Blondes), the Gens Claudia because the founder was Claudio (Crippled) and so on.
Some notable Etruscan Names translated (mixed results)
Sincere Love (for the Gods?)
Brilliant (light) Emissary of Intelligence
Embodiement (Lit. the concept of) of War
Flowering Beauty
Embodiement (Lit. the concept of) of Beauty
Some notable Latin names translated (man/woman):
Hold(in the sense of things)man
Fat (dispregiative)
Happyman
Blondeman
Unfunnyman
Horned Man
Dessiccated (?) man
Cripple (denigratory)
Hideous man
And my absolute favourite Local Man
Even more interesting is too see how much Etruscan names, in their respect, degrade to simple identification marks after the Roman conquest (while being held by some of the richest families in Etruria), something like Citypeople (Spurrinas) or Luckypeople (Volumnas). The names too get abbreviated and distorted to their roots, so for example Larthinal or Laerthinias, respectively (?) Bringer of War (maybe Retribution?) and Bringer of Divine Punishment, names reserved of course to the warrior Aristocracy, becomes just Larth - Warrior (implied great) in the Elogia Tarquiniens under roman rule which has a collection of "Larth" men and "Ram" women, Warrior and Beauty.
