Last time in my season six thoughts I talked about our friend and leader of the Dark Counsel Asmodeus go check it out if you haven’t yet. This time we are talking about Lolth and her history and her protentional role in season six. All spoilers for all Critical Hit seasons from here on out.
Let’s start reviewing Lolths role on The Bloom. Long ago there was only one race of elves Lolth convinced the Drow to split the elven race what became were three races. The Elves, the Eladrin, and the Drow.
Since that time Drow have been followers of Lolth. One of the hanging plot threads since season two is what happened at the end of the Underdark war. The Drow and other monsters were invading the Central Continent then they just stopped, and went back to the Underdark. While it has never been stated that Lolth played a role in this. We do know Drow have very close relationship with Lolth it seems highly unlikely she played no role.
Season 3
In season 3 Bao Bel-Bina gave the following information to Ket and the others.
“Out of all the members of the Dark Council Lolth may be the most dangerous. Many atrocities have been committed in the names of the other gods, but none continue to impact the inhabitants of the natural world like the Sundering did. Lolth speaks to her priests through prophetic dreams and maddening riddles, infecting them with a madness that is rumored to be contagious.
When interacting with her priests don’t let them bait you into doing something you will regret later.”
We saw this play out first hand. By playing with the dreams of Ket, Torg, Seven Owls Wise, and Albrecht Ghostbeard. She could make Ket not only give Lolth a temple in Sha-li but tore down Raven Queens temple in the Eldritch Enclave as the place to locate it. (Episodes 96-99)
Lolth agreed to wait until after the battle with the main cyst but we have heard nothing since that time other than how this angered the Raven Queen and pushed Ket out of her service into that of Asmodeus. If this is a chess game of who controls the pawns It seems like Lolth did a great job of move Ket from Pentetheon into the direct control of the Dark Counsel. Something Ket laments in Season 5.
Season 4:
In episodes 296-297 the party finally makes it to the Underdark. However, no one is there expect the Queen's Rebellious Daughter who had come to investigate the disappearance. The only solid clue the party finds before they must leave is it appeared that something had happened at the temple of Lolth but what was not clear what. What was clear is the city was empty and the people had gone somewhere.
Season 6 thoughts
Lolth like most of the other gods that took part in the battle at the main void cyst lost many forces. On top of that she would then have to staff an area of Sha-la as big as a city. The most likely place for the Drow from the Underdark to have gone was back to Demonweb and many to Sha-li.
As stated in the first appearance of Lolth is she might be most dangerous of the Dark Counsel and Ket gave her exactly what she wanted. The Treaty of Worms has not limited Lolth in the way it has limited other more marshal gods, and if someone was going to play a part in the killing of another god it seems like Lolth would be one of first suspects.
I keep wanting to write something about my season 6 ideas on the wiki but the wiki is more a place for facts and since most the Critical Hit community is on Tumblr or twitter from what i can tell. I figure i might as well write about season six here.
So when we think about season six we have to think about the setting, set up, and what is going to the happen with the players at level 20. Today I’m going to focus on the state of the Astral Sea and our good friend Asmodeus today.
There are two gods that came out of the attack on main void Cyst unmarked Asmodeus and Vecna neither of which committed forces to the fight. Asmodeus has been set up all the way back in Season 2 in the first appearance of Tuberville to be a bad guy. We see just how strong he has become is both season 4 and 5. The fact that Diamond Throne allows Tuberville to continued to be controlled by Asmodeus’s forces speaks to his strength. Their is also a lot of Ket’s time during the five year gap that we don’t know about his service to Asmodeus little has been said other than Ket was on loan. Clearly a lot of good storytelling options here.
You could say that Torq, Seven Owls Wise, and Albrecht Ghostbeard who were not willing to do some “small” evil for a year will lead to a much larger evil because it means that Asmodeous became much more powerful compared to the other gods in terms of forces after the events of the Void war. Take that and Orem’s Staticite rumors Asmodeous seems like a guys who takes advantage of opportunity when it presents itself.
Along this line of thinking, The Thing that Shatters the Sky gave the Torqletones a weapon that can kill a god. But The Thing that Shatters the Sky wants the power of the god. Now this is interesting because Queen's Rebellious Daughter talked about what would happen to a god if it were to go to a another plain, the god would be redefined by what filled it in much the same why Orem changes from vertex to vertex only on a larger scale. This to me suggest WHAT the torqletones kill might be what defines The Thing that shatters the Sky in the future. If its a god like Asmodeous you can bet that isn’t going to be good for Torqletones going forward. Think to who the void gods seems to be defined by what makes them up. Right now The Thing that Shatters the Sky is defined by himself no longer defined by some greater void god(ever notice we never find out which of the major void gods he was a part). But hutch is that when you start refill The Thing that Shatters the Sky with powers of a Lawful evil god. Your going to create a lawful evil god.
If given the choice to kill Asmodeous and empower another lawful evil god or to leave Asmodeous alive continuing to cause trouble on The Bloom would be terrible choice and something I could seen Rodigo forcing the players to go through.
Killed or not its a good bet that Asmodeus will play an important role in Season 6 of Critical Hit.
This is my crazy thoughts I’m sure my spelling and grammar are terrible sorry its my nature. I don’t claim to have any inside information I’m just a guy that has listened to the podcast a bunch of time. Share your thoughts if you want.
Next time I’ll talk about Loth and our missing Drow.
Valdren Darkmist, Dean of the College in Eladrin heights located in the Eldritch Enclave. While in the area looking for a Void Obelisk, Ket H'zard and Orem Rivendorn broke from the rest of the party to find housing while the Randus Duthane and Torq went to if they could find the source of the Obelisk Signal. In Eldadrin heights Orem and Ket found the prices of the inn to height for there liking. However they heard there was a college near by. Once gain fining the rates unreasonable Orem...
Random page I started working on the other day while listening through part of season 3. To my knowledge I’ve never seen any art of Dean Darkmist. He an important character in Orem’s story serving is much the same role as Master Althorn did before him. He honestly appears more than I had remembered. Part of that might be I HATED the bartering episodes when they first came out. Its funny how once point of view changes with time I really enjoy them and the world building that comes out of them from both from the players and the GM.
On a side note. Still a fair bit to write just been busy with RL stuff but as always need more writers and editors over at the wiki. I’ve done some basic work on the Season 5 summary but its far from complete. Just like so much else its just a matter of time and I’ve been out enjoying the False spring the midwest is currently enjoying. Winter is coming again I’m sure but in the mean time we I will enjoy the nice weather.
Critical Hit 78: Back to School (S3-015) We made it to the university now what.
Today’s project. Why? Because its what came up in my mp3 player. As always I could use a few people to give it a once over and clean it up but its more than it was at the start of the day.
Professor Lek was a wizard and alchemist working for the Salamander's Coil. After making the discovery of other worlds with there own Feywilds, and Shadowfells he decided to destroy his research and flee to the Central Continent. However the Salamander's Coil located him in Coldport and took him back to New Mahuacal where he was focused to continue this cross vertex traveling research. When Truant band lead by Little Sparkle attacked the Black Archive, the Professor was moved again to the secret
New write up on Professor Lek the Focus of much Season 5 of Critical Hit. As always I welcome all your edits goodness knows I need them. I’ve also got templates for all the main story episodes now #cheer so if anyone would like to help me fill those out it would be very welcome
So with the end of Season five of Critical Hit I hear the call to work on the wiki again. http://criticalhitpodcast.wikia.com/wiki/CriticalHitPodcast_Wiki
I always forget how giant this project is, just to make pages for all the main story episodes is a going to take ages. But ever forward, I’ve always done this project with a “If you build it that will come” attitude. It seems like a resource that would be really helpful when it finished, its just a matter of getting there. If you have a few minutes want to help clean up some grammar or help write a character page please do so.
Lords of the Feywild Thrown back into the Feywild. Orem and friends need to return this dangerous Realm back to the way it was but not all will go according to plan.
My holiday project is done with its first draft of the Critical Hit full Season 4 Summary. I could use some help cleaning it up still but going from nothing to a major summary of biggest season in Critical hit feels good to have finished with primary writing.
As always I can use more help writing articles on the wiki help make the wiki the Critical hit deserves.
If you have options one what Season summary i should write next I would would welcome your input.
The Stadtbibliothek am Mailänder Platz (the Struttgart City Library at Milan Place) looks like a sterile Apple Store-like bookstore. Scary, futuristic, yet awesome.
So one of the questions that I often get on Critical Hit goes something like this:
Hey man, cool D&D setting you got there, have you ever written anything else?
Well, now I have, I wrote a book called The Tale of Tallest Rabbit, which will be available for sale on Amazon on January 12.
‘Tallest Rabbit’ is an all ages book (although I’d say 8 and up if the child is actually going to read it him/herself) but there’s a lot in here for adults as well. It’s short, fun, and light but has plenty of action and emotion.
We’re hopping you guys will rush over and buy it on the release day so that it can get a little bump on Amazon, then maybe have some non-critters can become aware of it and buy it too.
Feel free to ask me about it here or on twitter. Hope you guys get a chance to read it once it comes out!
Lords of the Feywild Main characters Following the sealing of the Void at the end of Season 3 Orem Rivendorn was returned to the natural world by Reginald. When he returned he was near the glen recalled him to the Feywild. Unknown to Orem Randus Duthane and Torq were right behind him in returned to the natural world. Orem was transported away but Randus was able to find a way for him and Torq to follow Orem. in the Spring wood the party found the once great Cerulean Grove had been overrun with p
I can’t sleep and when I can’t sleep, I write and come hell or high water this CH wiki shall be complete. I was noticing a during a few searches on Tumblr that I guess there aren’t any good summaries of the different seasons of Critical Hit which isn’t surprising since there isn’t really a central hub for critical hit. Even the Major Spoilers forums have gone dark. So I decided to work on season summaries and naturally I start with the longest one which is season 4.
To read it is half done, fill with spelling errors, grammar errors, and lacks the links it needs to different episodes since many of those episode don’t have templates yet BUT is a starting point, and its more that existed a few hours ago.
As always help editing is both needed and highly welcome my brain just doesn’t see the mistakes(try working around this for my job where I need to send formal emails everyday) which sucks but i get the ones I can.
I know it turns some people off to see non perfect writing but we do the best with what we have and then we ask if others will help out. If not we just keep going and going since the road never ends

And let’s all mourn what The Learning Channel used to be.
Unless you’re 18 and under, TLC used to be the best science/technology channel on the planet, even going into future technologies humanity would dare to create. Chemistry, archaeology, paleontology, medical science, futurism, computer science all had a home on TLC. By 2001, the network got bit by the reality bug and it infected their minds and been that way ever since. So, if you’re 18 and below, you probably don’t even remember the old TLC. Sorry.
But I’m glad sibling network Science hasn’t totally drifted from its mission. Yet.
