Without a doubt, Shiloh is the baby of her large family. Born a whole decade after the last Graves' child, she's much younger than the rest of her siblings. With the rest of her siblings nearing adulthood by the time she came around, she and her brother Hutch ended up being the closest despite their ten year age gap. Reluctantly, at times, as she was often thrown his way if he wanted to go do anything because they didn't want her to feel left out. Wherever he went, she wasn't far behind.
If the distance between the siblings wasn't weird enough, they were also children growing up in a funeral home. To Shiloh, and most of her siblings, it wasn't strange because that's what she was used to. From an outside perspective, however, it made the family kind of off putting. How could they possibly grow up to be normal in that environment? They were judged unfairly, but that was beyond their control.
It didn't help that Shiloh had a problem with lying. She'd listen in on eulogies, read obituaries, and overhear people talking about the deceased and if she liked something about them, well, that was her whole persona until someone more interesting came along. It caused problems at school because people didn't really know how to engage with her. Who was she, anyway? Besides a weird girl who lived with dead people. They knew that was true, but nothing else that came out of her mouth was and no one wanted to be around her. Shiloh doesn't know why she started lying. It seemed fun at the time and she wasn't trying to cause problems. In a way, she felt like she was honoring the people who came through their doors, but in retrospect she does realize that maybe it wasn't the right or ethical thing to do.
Nowadays she honors the deceased by planning their funerals. Some of her siblings have left the nest and don't want to be involved in the business. For as long as she has been able to work, she's run the front desk at the funeral home but over the last few years she has shifted her attention to directing funerals and taking on more responsibility around the funeral home. Especially now that her parents have retired, running the place has mostly fallen on her and her brother's shoulders.
Shiloh is friendly but doesn't always know how to socialize with people. It was easier when she was pretending to be someone else. Being just herself is hard. Especially when people look at her like she has three heads coming out of her neck because she talks so casually about funerals. Deep down, though, she is a very caring person and just wants to help people through their grief and plan out their last big hurrah.
